Surely we now go 4-3-3?

In light of Balague's revelation that we are set to sign Di Maria for 48 million (a good signing imo), do we now ditch the 3-4-1-2 and go with a 4-3-3, a more familiar formation?

I wonder what this spells for our other attacking midfielders. I see Januzaj getting plenty of game time, and Mata will surely play regularly in the '10' role so who will be the main focal striker? I see Rooney getting the nod.

You'd have to wager that either one of Hernandez or Welbeck will now leave (Welbeck if you believe recent speculation) and Kagawa goes further down the pecking order unless LvG plans to use him as a central midfielder.

Now, just think we need to get in a midfield general to partner Herrera and I'd be very very happy.

Exciting times to be a Utd fan at the moment!

RVP
Rooney Di Maria

Rooney RVP interchanging and, a left back booming down the wing or Mata filling in on the left when Rooney does cut in pretty much sorts out the attacking side of our game. Not too sure on our current defensive department. So unless we buy I think we may carry on with the 3-5-2 because of our defensive apartment.

Thats the only way we will fit that front 4 into a system. But I think it depends on getting another cm in, and whether LVG feels its not too attacking.

Rooney will play sometimes up top and sometimes out wide.

I see everyone is trying to find ways to get Rooney, RVP, Mata & Di Maria into same starting 11.

I honestly don't think we can do it and not have at least one of those players totally out of position.

My preference:

----------------------------RVP

------------Di Maria---Rooney---Adnan

Harsh on Mata? Yes I suppose it is. But as a choice between Mata or Adnan for the wider position, it's a no brainer for me. Adan all the way.

Mata may be in the exact same position he was at Chelsea soon.

No way is Rooney not playing as captain and when your top striker (RVP) is LVG's best pal, you know he's playing. Di Maria is obviously going to play.

So it's either Mata, playing in a similar role to last season on the right, or an out and out winger in Adnan.

Decisions, decisions eh?

RVP the ball boy then?

Rvp rooney and mata dont have to start everygame. The best sides have top players who come off the bench and make a difference. Rvp increasingly aged and injury prone

Maybe, quite simply, (when) we play the 5-3-2 with Di Maria as a forward, who drifts out wide... much like Robben did in that formation in the world cup for the Netherlands. Hence why Hernandez and Welbeck are up for grabs?
