GT - If there really aren't any 'available' strikers much better than Giroud, then surely that means in order to challenge we simply MUST break the bank and pay the £50m that a world class striker costs?

We can't claim to have ambitions of winning the PL or CL with Giroud as our first choice striker due to a lack of willingness to buy the required players.

God Dotty....its not difficult. What if e.g. Monaco not willing to sell? What if RM wanted to keep Benezema on all costs. You need two parties to agree to tranfer a player ffs. Suarez saga included. What is so difficult to understand?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they reject a bid......you bid higher. IF you really really want a player you will pay what he's worth.

Suarez could have been bought last summer if we'd just paid what was asked at the time.

Again, maybe i'd understand your point now if it hadn't been TWO YEARS we've been needing a new striker.

That excuse simply does not stand for that long.

GT - I don't think i have ever used the word 'bumboy' when talking about your defence of Giroud. Don't lump me in with all the people you've blocked on twitter and had a go at here.

Resorting to the same behaviour as them completely invalidates any high ground you thought you had in the argument.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I give you that, Dotty. Dont mind.

Well is defending a player the same as abusing or worse offending him all the time. Giroud is a decent player. Not more but not less. And more he wears the Arsenal shirt. I am sorry if I am not go along to abuse/offend/boo an Arsenal player and prefer to support him and hope for improvement after the horrible Istanbul display.

Disagree with you but we are now at the point we argue in the dark. We dont know what happen behind he scene in the Suarez issue. I dont think it work that way either that if you are after a player you bid and bid and bid....Anyway at this point we dont go along. Dont mind.

And yes....I am not against a new striker. Suarez was my first choice.

Giroud may be out for several weeks with injury, meaning a late move for a striker is possible, says @Matt_Law_DT.

Maybe, just maybe we'll sign a striker

Unfortunately this whle "unavailable" business doesn't always hold. Costa, Mandzukic and Balotelli have moved clubs and they would be better than what we have. Even if you think Mandzukic and Balotelli aren't significant upgrades on Giroud, they are about 200 times the player that Sanogo is at the moment. Lets be honest, however amazing he might prove in a coupe of years, if Sanogo was playing for any other top 6 team at the moment, we would be laughing our guts off at him

To top it all off, we didn't buy Cesc, and I assumed that was because we were saving up for a striker. It is ret-a-rded to be going into another season with this strike force. Waiting for Giroud to be completely knackered by Christmas again.

And Alexis might turn out to be an amazing striker eventually, but he would need atleast a season to start being productive there. Implying that another season is thrown into transition while we mess up the big games.

Very disappointing at the moment. I would honestly be happy with Welbeck at the moment, thats how desperate the situation is. He is quick and strong, so would help in playing counter attacking football

More likely we'll just keep Poldi.

I doubt that means we will sign a big name. More likely we go for the Loic Remy range of strikers. Which IMO is utterly useless, since someone of that ilk cannot lead the line in our system. Might as well play Alexis as striker

I totally agree with this. We should have put in a serious bid for Suarez. We missed a great opportunity to sign a top player who was desperate to join us.

ACLF sums it up well:
That prospect is worrying, particularly when you consider Arsène’s list of alternatives,

“We have Sanogo who will be an important asset, we have Giroud, we have Lukas Podolski, we have Joel Campbell who can play centre forward. We have Alexis and Walcott coming back. Let’s not forget that.”

Which means that you have a striker who hasn’t scored in fifteen games, one who is expected to leave this week either on loan to Juventus or returning to the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, ably supported by a new signing who cannot get onto the pitch in Premier League games and two wingers, the experiment with one didn’t work whilst the fitness of the other is not to be relied on entirely. We’re in great shape in the striking department as anyone can see.
