According to the Telegraph;
Federico Fazio has agreed a four-year deal to join Tottenham Hotspur and plug the hole left by captain Michael Dawson's move to Hull City.
Spurs have clinched the £8 million signing of central defender Fazio from Sevilla, with 30-year-old Dawson heading to Hull in a deal worth £6m.
Dawson may not be the only central defensive departure from Tottenham, with Vlad Chiriches also free to head out of the White Hart Lane exit door.
Argentine Fazio has won two caps for his country and was at Sevilla for seven years, making 148 league appearances.

Vertonghen
Kaboul
Fazio
Chiriches
Dier
I think we have a great variety of defenders there. Fazio is very tall and would assume that he'll be very similar to Mertesacker who is actually a good defender.
Vertonghen and Kaboul are both good tacklers and comfortable on the ball. They each have decent pace. Dier is also similar to them and still very young. Great couple of performances but lets not get carried away.
Chiriches has some paces and a very ball playing defender like David Luiz.
So depending on the opponents I think the set of defenders will help us immensely in defence. I could imagine Fazio for instance being very handy against long balls and the less nimble strikers.
--------------------------------
Yedlin is on loan for now and when he joins the team then depending on how he fits in and adapts who would then have the luxury of either having three right backs or trimming the fat (and getting rid of Naughton).
Same with Rose. He is error prone but thought he was pretty good last game against QPR and he may still develop into a more solid left back defensively. Whilst Davies already offers more defensively (less attacking) and time will tell if he starts playing left back more regularly.

IMO Chiriches is a trainwreck waiting to happen, he always makes at least one big mistake per game and Kaboul does not look anything like the player he was before his injury problems.

Totally agree. I'll keep saying the same thing till he gets sold. Romanian David Luiz. We aren't a defensive outfit like Chelsea and we can't afford to have a defender like him.

Interesting article on Fazio...not what you'd call reassuring
