35 players listed on the united website as first team squad.
15 are attacking footballers, strikers or attackinig midfielders.
3 goalkeepers
9 are players with little or no experience in the first team, likely youth team graduates. Thats not including Shaw, which would make 10.
That leaves 8 players who will comprise the defence and ball winnning portion of our midfield.
Rafael - always injured
Shaw - out for 2 months, by which time the league will be out of our grasp
Jones - Injury prone
Smalling - sunday league footballer
Carrick - past his best days and not a ball winner. Quality passer thou.
Rojo - good signing
Evans - never been impressive for long periods despite being at the club for years.
Flethcer - has inflammatory bowel disease which can render him non playable at any time.
It is incomprehensible that we spend 60m onanother forward. 3 weeks ago the imbalance was addressed and stil nothing has been done. I am really confused. Its like to a formula one team saying they have poor functioning breaks on a car and saying oh well, lets fix it with a bigger engine.
That money should have been divided up into buying 3 defensive minded players.2 defensive midfielder and a center half or vice versa.

Meanwhile Rodgers is having selection headaches over who to play out of Enrique, Moreno, Agger, Lovren, Skrtel, Sakho, Toure, Johnson, Manquilo and Flanagan

Apparently there is only one position on the pitch that involves attack...
They are all forwards whether they play upfront, on the wing or in no.10....
By that logic then yeah he wasn't needed... if we look a little bit deeper though... he will either be a winger (or LCM or at worst WB) Winger (or side CM) isn't something we have plenty of quality in...
Our choices for those positions before Di Maria are either Valencia, Young and Adnan (with 2 positions to fill)
Or
Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick, Cleverly or Herrera (with 2 or 3 positions to fill)
Maybe to you both those lists are filled with quality players that Di Maria would offer very little improvement over...
I would have to strongly disagree. I would like us to buy a CM as well though. More than happy with the signing of Di Maria even if he was a little overpriced.

Your defence is utter bilge with no leaders.
Rojo is a good player but is young and new and won't solve that on his own.
Totally amazed that you haven't signed a couple of experienced players for the back line.
Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra were massive losses in mentality and organisation but some of you acted like they wouldn't be missed.
Crazy.
There is still time to get someone in but this late in the window you don't usually see the best options.

Saggy most of those defenders are hopeless, hence the fact you continue to give away chances and leak goals. Not that that makes our defence any better

if LVG doesn't sign anyone else like he said he last night you will have a worse season than last year
You will rely on Di Maria way to much
Out of your better players you have only
De gea - Good keeper
Rooney - Overarted but god none the less
RVP - World class on his day but is injury prone
Mata - can be quality but teams can just throw a blanket over him and hes done for
your team is worse than Everton and spurs on paper

Guess they will take away all the players from last night: that'll take it down to twenty or so!!!
