Ok IOk! you have twisted my arm, ill write another article, just stop going on about it.
Ok So Next up for the mighty CFC is the rather difficult and much dreaded EVERTON AWAY!!!!
Personally I hate this fixture, Everton are a good side with a lot of ability and will cause anyone trouble. They also have a Certain Mr Lukaku, who will no doubt be eager to send a message to us. ( if he hasn't handed in a transfer request by then with the arrival of etoo )
I watched them against Arsenal, in my mind they were favourite's for that game and started well. For the vast majority of the game the midfield battle was well and truly won by the men in Blue, Barry and McCarthy complement each other superbly and were both excellent in that game.
They pass well, very well in fact, Martinez seems to have added to the excellent groundwork Moyes laid for them by adding that little extra in their approach play and has made them more attacking and productive outfit. They do attack with speed especially on the counter but are more than happy to zip the ball around and keep possession. They will be playing at Goodison so the crowd will be up for it and urging them forward.
So how should we go about beating them.
Sure on paper we should see this as a win, but we all know its doesn't work that way and Everton are a very good side.
I feel the key is containment, especially in the first 20 - 25 mins. For me Ramires is the key here, suspended for the first game and a cameo against Leicester this is the type of game where his unique abilities can be in full view. Ramires is a player who divides opinions, much maligned for his touch and decision making however it his energy, pace and his ability to quickly turn defence into attack which will be key.
Rami will be needed to press Everton when in possession and break up their momentum, we saw against arsenal when the gunners raised their game up just a notch Everton became careless, Rami can do that, We should contain Evertons attack from the off and disrupt their passing game as much as possible and interception here a niggle foul there it will all go towards
If we achieve this and take control of the game this will be our best chance of coming a away with a very good 3 points.
Team to play ;
Same keeper and back four
Ramires Matic
Fab
Hazard Costa Willian
This is not to say it should be a 4 3 3, far from it. It should start 4 2 3 1 with Fab in the "10" however I feel in this game he is best served playing slightly deeper than a traditional 10 to compensate and help in a midfield with Ramires, this is the reason why I have gone for him over Oscar. Fabregas can feed off Ramires energy but also retain that possession which is vital.
What are your thoughts ?
Everton Vs Chelsea

Collectively we are better off as a team, with them as pairing.

I agree against the so called weaker teams but not against teams who are on par with us.

I agree...we are not going to dominate teams throughout but best not having Ramires from the start, when we go through periods of control(with opposition camped in their own half).
Getting the ball through to our attacking players was an issue last season against Everton in the second half because of Mikel's and Ramires' inability to pass through them quickly, didn't have the incision when It was needed.
Fabregas and Matic more often than not will produce from deep when they see the chance, rather than allow opposition to regroup and settle.
Such is the role of the #10(Oscar/Willian) both great at defensive phases, that Ramires just isn't necessary to begin with especially against Everton.
Tough CL matches and perhaps City away, where we need to pack the midfield Ramires will have his uses.

Everton are not on par with us but they do tend to put up a spirited performance against us, hence why we need to start on the front-foot. Beat them into submission and frustrate.

I'm convinced if we start with high intensity/tempo we'll be too much handle for Everton.

Very few teams that will be able to cope with us, If we start on the front-foot(Everton not one of them, If you ask me).

Starting on the front foot is easy to say, but if you are chasing the ball/trying to win possession for long periods how will that work?
Plus I am sure we will come out, without Costa playing I am much more confident we can get at your FB's with pace and direct running

Even though it's good news for us, I am gutted Costa is out. I want to see the best players live when I go to the game. For chelsea's point of view its probably handy that it's early in the season as Drogba won't be as tired.

More than happy to see a physical battle for Jags/Distin than following Costa about
