I haven't understood or seen one convincing reason for what's going wrong with your team. So your say?
- Tactics/Formation: you had a perfect pre-season tour, beating Madrid, Liverpool, Roma,... testing with all the current players with similar tactics. Now suddenly it's wrong?
- Players/Form: you have some injuries, but the available team are still very strong, esp considering your 3 opponents. And players must be with a high spirit after a good pre-season, motivated by a new famous manager. I think it's nonsense to blame the players attitude.
- Coaching: LVG was hailed like god at/after the World Cup and when coming to MU, such an experienced, confident, intelligent coach with big CV, not like Moyes at all. Now many people doubt his reign here. And I never believe the idea that he doesn't care about the League Cup, no one wants out at the first match, and for a big team like MU, of course it's stupid.
I think you're cursed,
or, LVG underestimated too much the small English teams, or, 3-5-2 is poor against the traditional kick-and-rush football.
What's wrong then?

Injured at some point during the season, so far:
Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Shaw, Valencia, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, Ando, Kagawa, Lingard, RVP
I think there is more to it than injuries... But fúck me... that is alot of players, quite a few of which would be starters.

So its more like 3 first teamers that are out + shaw who hasn't played yet.
Not as bad as I thought / was led to believe, but Im guessing the squad injuries have exposed it even more.

Exactly, the only 2 CM's to not be injured so far this season have been Fletcher and Cleverley, all the injuries seem to be in Defence and Midfield which is our weakest area

If we picked our strongest team IMO and compared it to the XI that played against Sunderland I'd imagine only 6 would start
---------------De Gea-----------
Rafael---Jones--Smalling--Shaw
----Herrera-----Carrick----Di Maria---
-------------------Mata------------------
----------Rooney-----RVP--------------

This is our best squad in my opinion and I hate playing footballers out of their original position.

Who have the long absence? When do you expect the needed ones will come back so you'll have a good team again?
Evans/Ando already back, (surely must be fit and well-practiced, to be selected against MK Don). Kagawa, Smalling just injured I think.
So compared to the pre-season, only Shaw/Herrera are the apparent missing right? Unluckily, they're the two you bought to for your weak positions. But I don't think the players in those positions last season were too bad. As with previous season, you should have got 2 wins from last 3 games.

Yep. That coupled with the increased intensity of the other team.

As LVG has told us, the squad is unbalanced, shot if confidence and learning a new way of playing (not a new formation).
We need a lot of players to leave and a lot to arrive for there to be any kind of cohesion and natural connections in playing styles.
We need to remember we are Manchester Utd, with or without Ferguson.
We need to learn how to play football and not just drag ourselves through a game to win. It worked under Fergy because there was a fear factor, an expectation that we would always score. The moment he left we lost all of that and teams new they could beat us. We have to win solely by playing the best football, which isn't going to happen for some time until the two problems above are solved.
