Good morning peeps hope you are all well.
Sorry for another transfer window article, just want to gauge your opinions on the standard of our squad for this season.
Well we have just under 5 days left of the transfer window, we have so far bought very well and have at last addressed the frailties in our defence with the signings of Dier, Fazio, Davies, Vorm and Yedlin for next season.
We have trimmed the fat of our squad to an extent by offloading Daws, Siggy, Livermore, Falque etc.
Surely we are happy with our defence now ??, the Gk situation is sorted so do we need to buy and sell any midfielders or strikers?
Do we have too many defenders now ? should Chiriches and Fryers be moved on ?
Should we make one last move for Scneiderlein or someone else in cm?
Do we offload Sandro, Paulinho or even Dembele ?
Attacking wise we know Soldado and Townsend are staying so do we offload Lennon or Holtby?
And finally do we need to sign another attacking midfielder / forward?
Personally im happy with the squad but obviously we should always look to improve. Will be an interesting few days.
Stick or Twist ??

For me -
Loan - Fredericks, Fryers, Veljcovic and Ceballos..this.
Sell - Sandro (regrettably) and Holtby......this.
Buy - Welbeck.....not this.

I would never be happy with our squad if I thought there was a chance of getting certain players into it. Love to have Bale back, Fabregas and Van Persie.
But we aint gonna get them so the squad is as good as we can expect.
Secondly, we have bought and tried to address the defence situation. Only time will tell, against some quality opposition, if we have. Things looked good against who we have played so far. Lets see how we do over the next few games.
And I think, that if Sunday was anything to go by, then the striker situation is out the window (phrase, not the football version). I seems that the manager has given the attackers free range to interchange as the game dictates, and in that situation Ade provided a perfect cross from the wing and was in the centre for a beautiful finish. I don't think we should be thinking about conventional strikers at the minute. Lets see how the system works over time.
I do think we need to sell those players who will not get a look in other than the odd sub appearance. Reduce the wage bill and hopefully resurrect their careers elsewhere.

Agreed - especially if Sandro doesn't sign extension.

Good and fair post Bill.
I'm pretty happy with the squad as is, unless a quality player.....and I mean true quality, not Wellbeck....becomes available, similar to the VDV signing.
One thing that is pleasing is that we finally seem to be using the loan system properly, sending to players to clubs that fit them relatively well rather than just slinging them off to the first club who offers.

Interesting points, it does seem we play a front 4. if thats the case then they all need to have goal scoring ability. That does rule Lennon out.
It does also mean Townsend should look to start getting in the box. if he could shoot within the box he would definitely score more goals.

SELL: No one (unless a good offer comes in for Paulinho)
BUY: Remy, Welbeck or another pacey striker

For me only thing that would significantly improve our squad now would be a top drawer striker. However I doubt we would pay (or possibly be able to attract) a really top class striker, so unless anyone is unsettled and needs to be moved on, we should stick.

If we did sign an out and out striker like Bony would he get in the side?
Adebayor suits our fluid system, he can pull out wide and create like he did against Qpr and Chadli's goal.
Soldado is the enigma, we all know he has real talent and maybe under Poch he will get back to his old self.
Kane is coming along nicely and is impressing every time he plays. Looks like he will lead the line tonight in the Europa plus he can play behind the striker and as an outside left.
As much as i rate Holtby i still think he would be the one to move on if we could get another attacking midfielder or wide forward.
