So both players were asked about their thoughts on Falcao.
Rooney :
"I obviously don't know how Falcao's arrival could affect my role, that's something you'll have to ask Louis van Gaal.
"I think it is a fantastic signing. He is one of the best players in the world. It is a real show of intent by Manchester United.
"It is a thrill. We have an exciting team. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and I want it to be successful"
RvP :
"I welcome his arrival, he makes us better. At a top club you should always go for the best, which also fits my philosophy. Falcao must fight for his place, as I also have to. We must duke with Wayne Rooney and James Wilson to see who's playing"
Other than a typical cookie cutter response from Rooney, I don't have a lot to add other than how classy RvP is regarding fighting for his place, not only alongside Falcao, but alongside James Wilson. What a boost for the young lad to see a world class player like this talk about himself, and Falcao, on the same level as an inexperienced youngster. He could have just as easily not mentioned him at all.
For me it's little things like this as to why he should have been picked as captain over Rooney. Everytime I see RvP interviewed about us, he reeks of professionalism and genuine integrity.
Rooney on the other hand comes across like a total cliche; a 'man' seemingly incapable of generating his own thoughts.
I am at a loss as to how Rooney is captain of the most successful club in the country, and our national team. As a player his best days are long gone, and as a role model he does nothing to merit this.
I notice in a lot of 'mock' teams we've all been doing, RvP ends up on the bench. And quite frankly that's a travesty; he is in every way a far superior player, and a far superior leader.
I look back on Moyes' time in charge, and for all the mistakes he made, the biggest for me was getting Rooney to sign such a ridiculous contract. I've never seen a player under perform for such a long period of time, and be rewarded like that.
I read that Paul Parker has chimed in slating Rooney, and I cant disagree with it at all.

Rooney supporters (He's our engine, he gives his all, etc etc) have at it, but I would challenge you to convince me that he is a better football player then RvP.

I was thinking the same thing. That Falcao wil be going to Madrid next year but he sure is taking one hell of a route back to Madrid. A.Madrid>Monaco>Manchester>R.Madrid. I hope he stays in the PL though.

It depends i suppose if a younger striker steps up and out shines him on the world stage, because real will buy any flavour of the month tbf.
I just dont understand if he was avbailible for loan, why they didnt go for him

Yeah. Is it worth it for him now? Is he doing all this rerouting just to get a move to Real? He's not getting any younger. First it was so that he didnt anger the Atletico fans, so he moved to Monaco. Now Real cant afford him/don't need him. I guess Real want to see him in action for atleast a season before splashing out on him because no doubt Jorge Mendes will be setting up a move again for him next summer..

this is the most likely scenario. Wait and see. 60 mils a lot on a player with an acl injury to come back from and who is also 28. I can see why theyd stick around.

In that case the way he is playing is worrying.

It really isn't that surprising or worrying, he got injured in the World Cup, most of the other players have had 8 or so games in Pre Season/League games so far. He isn't match fit and that's not going to take long to rectify if he gets games.

This might be in the realms of conspiracy theories but a part of me sees the Hernandez to Real loan as a way to smooth Falcao's passage to Real.
They do us a favour taking Chica off our hands for a year, and we do them a favour providing an abode for Falcao, see how he copes with the rigours of the PL. Next year, they return Chica and splash out on Falcao. Let's face it, Falcao is the ultimate mercenary.
Hey, in my head it sounded less labyrinthine!
