Experience with Openreach

Has anybody recently purchased on a new development and had to wait for Openreach to install a line before you can get internet?

They has now given me three separate "completion dates" all of which have been put backwards.

Basically I want a genuine answer on how long I can expect to wait for the BT line to be complete.

Do you mean Openreach? I work in telecoms. Is it a brand new property with no previous lines going in or is it an existing premises? Also is it business or residential?

Are they just installing it in the house or does the line need putting down to the whole new area?

Yes Faran, Openreach It's residential.

My house is BT ready, they have a green box, apparently there is no line running between the two.

One of my mates has brought two blocks down from me and he has had the same problem, they keep of giving us different dates.

In that case you may be waiting a while. It means the property developer hasn't ask BT Openreach to actually connect the house to the Green Cabinet. They will usually assign a surveyor to survey the property and then draw up a plan for the engineers to run the cables. If you are lucky they have already put the poles or underground ducting in to run the cables. However if the project manager for the developers didn't liaise with BT Openreach when doing the development work then it could take a while as they would either have to put underground ducting in or poles both of which will cause further delays.

I just don't understand why they would put green boxes in, install the houses with bt connections points and not complete the line.

Terrible really.
