It's definitely a good idea to get someone in like yepes. They may not be that great, and lack pace. But having someone experienced is certainly better than having to line up facing a big team with Hayden or Monreal playing CB, or some mismatched defence with flamini at LB with Monreal CB, if injuries hit. Haven't really got much to lose with bringing in someone cheap. Can't be a worse 4th choice than what we have now.

Between now and January, it's almost a case of one senior defender and none. Someone who played well enough at the World Cup and has bags of experience is certainly better than nobody. As 4th choice you would hope he wouldn't be needed to play much anyway.

Yeah he's ok. But against a winger from a good team he'd probably really struggle. Also remember he was much younger when he played there for us. Probably lost a bit of pace since then.

He's what 50 now, not good enough for the PL unless he went to burnley
