Well we folded, but I have to give United credit. Fergie always seems to get the right blend of players..............................................Man of the Match for me was Rooney...........................thought he looked sharp, quick & had great control.
Not a bad start for us, I think we can take positives away, our play looked sharp and against other teams we might well have banged in a few goals.
We need Sandro & Gallas back asap, also need another striker. Hope the Adebayor & Diarra moves go through before Friday.
Thought Lennon was not at his best tonight, Friedel was very good & not at fault for any of the goals. Rooney was left unattended for his goal & tucked it away nicely.

Not enough in my opinion, we need at least 2 strikers
We gave up in the second half, gutless performance, no one wanted to step up and take the game to Utd, rolled over, im gutted
We played some good stuff, but without ANY strikers on our books we will never score enough, we had to score while on top and guess what...we didnt

Basically what we've learnt is we need another centreback and another striker. This must be the 100th time I've said it now.

I don't mean to be a but I feel that is the problem with you and to a far larger extent Liverpool. You overrate how good your side really is.
Before the season started I was hearing talk of a title challenge and finishing above Chelsea etc but IMO you are a long way off it, whether you want to accept it or not you are a long way off United, City and even Chelsea.
I still think you are a good side and under better management could easily make top 4. Chin up, OT is never an easy opening game to go to

I thought it was a pretty poor show and very discouraging.
We gave them far too much respect and space and time on the ball...it was like we were Hearts at times...OK not quite that bad (actually nowhere near), but you get the idea.
Positives:
+ Kaboul played well on the whole.
+ Good to see Harry rewarded the team that got the win vs Hearts, including Defoe, by retaining them. It didn't work, but that's because I think we were set up wrong and/or had the wrong mentality.
+ Thought Friedel did OK overall - glad he got the nod
+ VDV lasted 90 minutes
+ Some (very occasional) nice patches of crisp, short passing in midfield
Negatives (apart from those already mentioned):
- VDV's set pieces. If he doesn't get a grip on corners soon I want to see him taken off them. He's had a season now and still can't produce ANYTHING.
- VDV plus another any other slow one in midfield (in this Niko) doesn't work. Been saying this for ages.
- Didn't look like a team, very disjointed.
- Lennon and Bale were very quiet, as they were (for me) in a number of games last season. So it was really asking too much of Niko and Jake in MF (amazing they did so well for so long actually - another positive). I think if neither are getting any joy for most of the game bring one off - two ineffectual wingers puts too much pressure on middle of the park.
- If Lennon had looked up sometimes we might have had a goal or two (at least we'd have had two or three more cracking chances).
- No on-field leadership. King or Gallas are needed.
Oh well, hopefully lessons will have been learned! On to the rest of the season

Come off it mate, show me the proof that we thought we'd be title challengers?!
