From Fowler, Wright,Shearer and Sherringham

To Rooney, Sturridge and Lambert.

That's not a great choice of front men especially when you look at players past managers could select from.

Apart from Lambert I don't see a downgrade whatsoever. The quality of top English forwards maybe but not quality

TBF, Shearer was the only one of the first set of 4 that was a good international goalscorer.

I agree, but when they had a chance they played well and got goals between em.

Only Rooney and Welbeck look like troubling the scoreboard at the moment for england
