LSTD League Week 4 Results

Newcastle United 2-3 Portsmouth
Scorers: Suarez x2, Gotze, Modric, Lukaku
Assists: Nasri, Cuadrado, Sterling, Immobile
MOTM: Modric
for Marcelo

Newcastle posed great threat in their attack however Portsmouth’s midfield controlled the game and split open their defence many times. I feel they were better than Newcastle in most departments.

Arsenal 1-1 Southampton
Scorers: Aguero, Baines
Assists: AOC, Mertens
MOTM: Sagna
for Kolarov
for Busquets, Kompany, Blind
for Dembele, Sagna

Arsenal dominated the game with an overall stronger side. Southampton did well to reduce the amount of chances they had though with the formation they had. The red card didn’t affect the result as it came quite late in the game.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-2 Manchester City
Scorers: Mandzukic, Kuba, Van Persie, Wilshere
Assists: Mkhi, Son, Ozil x2
MOTM: Ochoa
for Rode, Fernandez, Ramos
for Wilshere

Wolves form helped them pretty much in this game however I do like how Rex has set his team up. He has already shown he has a team good enough to take points off the top 7 teams of last season and he has done it again. I still think there are some weaknesses for City to really think of a title challenge mainly still in midfield.

Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea
Scorers: Koscielny, Destro, Neymar
Assists: Kroos x2, Vidal
MOTM: Kroos
for Gustavo
Iturraspe, Varane, Sanchez

I consider Villa’s defence to be better than Chelseas today although granted Chelsea were missing their main defenders. Villa had the midfield and the attack to punish this weakness which is why they deserve the win. Although Chelsea had more shots, I don’t consider this a shock result as the villa side overall isn’t that much worse imo. Villa have caught up with the top 7 imo. Chelsea hold the midfield strength though. Villa need to improve this area.

Manchester United 1-1 Birmingham City
Scorers: Robben, Lacazette
Assists: Di Maria
MOTM: Cahill
for Cech, Moreno

Fan will tell you why the result came to this but all I know is that United dominated the game especially the early parts and should have scored more were it not for brums defence.

Hull City 1-0 Leicester City
Scorer: Rodrigo
Assist: Walcott
MOTM: Walcott
Overall the Hull team was better and deserved the win. Not many chances were created though due to the formation Leicester played. The pace in Hulls team won them the game.

Liverpool 3-1 Swansea City
Scorers: Rooney, Terry, Matuidi, Cerci
Assists: Griezmann x2, Garcia, Negredo
MOTM: Matic
for Nainngolan
for Salah, Rami

A very strong side and tactics put out by Liverpool. I was tempted to make it a bigger scoreline if im honest but felt Swansea and Kamran didn’t deserve to lose by more. Liverpools strongest area in this match was certainly attacking force. Swansea invited too much pressure.

West Bromwich Albion 0-5 Everton
Scorers: Llorente x2, song, Bernard, doumbia
Assists: Bernard, Alvarez x3, criscito
MOTM: Alvarez
for Javi Garcia, Jagielka, Clyne
for Song, Skrtel
