Elder Scrolls Online

Anyone play this?

Finally downloaded, 21gb later! Started playing it just now, chose the European servers even though I'm in Aus so they've now gone down for maintenance!

Seems OK, though, hopefully has some new ideas to stop it failing like the Star Wars online one did.

TBH dude i have given up on MMOs until something different comes along, WoW had it right until they made it easy and started to give away loot. Wasnt that impressed with the demo of ESO, found Wildstar to be better.

Yeah I haven't really played an MMO properly since WoW in about 2006? Gave Star Wars a go but it was just mind numbing!

Just playing ESO now, bit disappointing so far, nothing away from the usual formula sadly.

Also, Wildstar ?

Yeah is a pretty cool sci fi mmo, it certainly isn't anything new but does all the right things....well it did in the first few hours (only played the beta for a couple of days).

Have a search about you may find a free trial some where.

for a free online MMO you cant really beat Star Trek Online, its never going to be the greatest MMO but for a F2P its actually very good and highly enjoyable

Lotro is pretty decent too and follows the lore really well too!

I've also not played an MMO in ages. My mate bought me Guild Wars 2 a year ago but I've barley played it & neither has he.

Are they still popular? Not sure if they're dying or if I just outgrew them.

Not sure, Drunken Hobo, I think the problem is WoW kind of defined the whole genre, and then nothing has really broken its mould.

I thought Bethesda and Elder Scrolls might do that, but after about 2 hours playing time I've already lost motivation to play it!

Regarding mmos i dont think a truer thing has been said:

"I think the problem is WoW kind of defined the whole genre, and then nothing has really broken its mould."

Blizzard then went and broke it to get the casuals in, destroying the thing most people enjoyed about the game

ESO was doomed from the start. I don't like the way Bethesda have taken the series, but they weren't even involved with this shambles. It was a ruthless cash grab from their parent company, Zenimax, who sought to make a quick buck on a painfully generic mmo trading off the Elder Scrolls brand.

It's so pathetic that we haven't even enjoyed the schadenfreude of watching it crash and burn the way we did with Bioware's The Old Republic.

The Old Republic was a great 1 player game though. I actually really liked Star Wars. Wildstar was ok but none of my online friends actually played it for long and Blizz has taken most of the good ideas for the new WoW patch anyway...
