Senderock

Have to say when we signed Senderos I thought we had bought a really poor player, but fair play to him, he is making me eat humble pie !

The issue with him will be referees will start to take notice. Could have easily had two red cards yesterday. I would do the same, wind Balotelli up but he was very lucky to stay on the pitch.

Never thought I'd see Senderos get regarded as solid. He was great yesterday though. Although to be fair Balotelli is worthless

He looked good for us during his younger days. Then Wenger became obsessed with a highline which didn't help his lack of pace. Then Drogba happened. Poor senderos was mentally scarred and never the same player again

Senderos was part of the Arsenal defence that broke the CL record for consequetive clean sheets.
Senderos was part of the Swiss defence that didn't concede in the 2006 World Cup.
He was part of the Arsenal defence that stood firm against a dominant United in the 05 Cup final.

He has an impressive track record when the team is set up in a way that benefits his qualities.

His weaknesses will be exposed this season, at times, but he is far away from the absolutely horrendous CB many have him down as. Just not top class.

He's good at what he does and also shows how much experience he has. Yesterday we didn't miss Vlaar, and I never thought I'd say that. Senderos kept the defence together. And Baker stepped up as well, think having three competent defenders around him is helping.

Looks like Vlaar is out for a "few weeks", could be a similar problem to last year. If the defence play as they did yesterday, we should be OK, so long as we don't get red cards or more injuries.

Senderos played well, roughed Balotelli up and could have been sent off. But Balotelli went sulky, was completely absent, so why on earth did Anfield give him a standing ovation? I mean support him and that but a standing ovation was almost comical

Support your players and try to up their confidence?! Woeful way to treat your players and improve their performances.

In case you're too stupid to work it out, I was being a cun t. I wasn't first to that tag though, somebody else was. Trivia; who was it?

I think Villa will do well this season, I felt that before the season began, whilst some tipped them for relegation. Young players played last season and the team cohesion gradually got better. They have few top players but a good team in my opinion and Benteke to come back.

Good luck.

I really dislike Felani for those off the ball kick outs, wildly flailing elbows and snidey nudges he does when the refs back is turned....
I hate that Senderos does it too. If he does get sent off for it, I hope he learns quick. He's looking like a god defender. Surely he doesn't need that in his game?

Nasty piece of work, Felaini. Dirty play an integral part of his game. Not much good without it; amazed Moyes took him to MU. Think Senderos's kick was more of a calculated wind-up than a habit, hope it doesn't become one.

One of the biggest defensive bullies ever was Ron Yates, Liverpool. Law said of him, he would kick you in the tunnel before the game, during the game, and in the tunnel after the game. I was at Highbury in the mid 1960s when the tables were turned. He mistimed a tackle, falling down in the process, caught Joe Baker of Arsenal, who accidentally (?) trod on him as he tried to regain his balance. Yates,6'2", chased after Baker, 5'7", and gave him a thump in the back. Baker turned around and gave him the most beautiful upper-cut you will ever see. Laid Yates out cold. Those were the days ....
