Evening all, first of all wanted to start of saying unlucky about last night just wasn't your night. Anyway's as you all know you were linked with the Greek center back Sokratis for around 2 weeks at the end of the transfer windows. I was extremely ticked off because, I was confused to why my beloved United didn't go for him when we needed defenders especially when he is EVERYTHING that our defence isn't unfortunately. And for 12 million what a bargain it would of been and I would know since ive missed around 10 BVB games in the past 2 years. Basically for those who never watched him before or have but never watched enough did that performance convince you last night you needed him only 25 if not mistaken extremely physical, quick, reads the game, cool on the ball and great tackling. Recently read Klopp is thinking about dropping Subotic because sokratis form has been amazing for when mats returns even though Subotic has been rock as well what a dilemma to have don't you think? Anyways just wanted your opinion should you of bought him? Were you impressed? Or do you you need someone even better? (Good luck with that finding players that make no mistakes and consistent hard these days and he's both)
Anyways comment away guys.

I think he's a brilliant centre-back.
What impresses me most is his athleticism. Strong build, fantastic leap, and incredibly fast - apparently, he was one of only 6 players recorded as having run faster than 35km per hour in the Bundesliga in 2012/2013!
Him and Koscielny would have been a brilliant partnership, and would have suited the high-line we tend to play perfectly.
I think Mertesacker's a great player, but I hate the fact that we've resigned ourselves to not being able to play a high-line - or resigned ourselves to getting hammered by teams with quick strikers if we do - by making him such a key figure at the back.
He's a useful option to have, but someone like Sokratis would have been more in-keeping with the high-pressing style we seem to be adopting this season.
