Who is Better Placed to Run Scotland?

650 MPs, of which only 59 are elected by people in Scotland.

129 MSPs, elected by people in Scotland using a proportional voting system.

That is what we're voting for tomorrow. The vote isn't about the pound, pensions or Cameron. It isn't about Trident, oil or Salmond. This vote is about democracy. If you believe in democracy, vote "Yes". If you don't believe in democracy... don't vote... because you don't believe in democracy.

Does any other country have the same amount of self-loathing as Scotland?

The UK has the 5th-6th largest GDP, as long as you ignore population size. Considering the UK is about the 5th largest fully developed country, it's not much of a boast.

Doing it per capita (PPP) puts the UK in the range of 21st-26th. Not exactly stellar, but not terrible either.

A bigger problem is that a hell of a lot of this wealth belongs to the ultra-rich, with the UK being one of the most unequal fully-developed countries. So whilst our finances may seem healthy, they don't benefit everybody. It's not much of a comfort to someone on a run-down council estate that the UK economy is vying with France for 5th spot in the world. The banker in his Bentley rather likes it though.
It just seems to be another example of "size matters" that has dominated the pro-union side of the debate. It's old imperialistic thinking that has certainly outstayed its welcome.

Yes Latvia, Toiler. it has the fastest growing economy in Europe, unemployment is an all time low, and the average wage has doubled.

All this from a small eastern block country with no oil, whisky, tourism, golf, haggis, timber, tartan, shortbread etc etc.

Amazingly they survive but Scotland will turn into an some economic backwater the day after it votes Yes.

The biggest mistake of the no camp is underestimating the Yes camp and its based all its arguments on us being too stupid (or lazy) to work them out. The truth is the UK is actually one of the worst run places on the globe.......

I can't really see Latvia being a good example for Scotland, what was the average wage in Latvia before this doubling and now... how does this compare to Scotland?

I imagine part of what Latvia has done involved cheaper labour costs in comparison to other countries in order to attract companies...

So an Independent Scotland would slash the working classes wages in order to mimic the great success of Latvia.... sounds great I guess.

You do realise impressive growth is much easier from a lesser position?

People may like to talk down about Scotland but you are a million miles away from being like Latvia in terms of development.

At this point I have to seriously question your knowledge of countries outside of the UK!
