Januzaj's chances and the ageing RVP

Anybody else a bit concerned for Januzaj's development?

He's just been giving the treasured Giggs no.11 shirt, but you wonder with all the signings, just how will he fit into van Gaal's plans.

Personally, I'm not convinced that a 31 year old and injury prone van Persie will be able to reignite his form of 2 years ago...even his exploits of last year. I'm one of those who felt the Falcao signing was actually imperative. I'm not even convinced RVP is that hungry/motivated anymore.

But perhaps, if RVP's heyday is over, maybe theres an opportunity for Januzaj here in a more advanced role just off the main striker. Here are potential line up's I've imagined:

DDG
Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw

Blind

Herrera Di Maria (sometimes pulling out wide left to make 4-3-3)

Rooney (in the 'hole)

Januzaj (sometimes pulling out wide right to make 4-4-3)

Falcao

Thoughts?

RVP and Rooney play in different positions

It's like saying Fergie preffered Carrick over Kagawa

RVP played at 9

Rooney played at 10

I don't think that's what is being insinuated, Macca.

It's not about positions, it was about the focus of the team. In that respect, what has been said about Rooney and RVP is true.

I disagree Dazza

When fit, they both played

Ive never really got why people think the managers preferred one over the other.

Both fabulous players

Both top players, no doubt. However, in Fergie's last year, RVP was the top dog.

The Carrick and Kagawa comparison don't make sense to me. It is clear Ferguson liked Kagawa very much, but we had a better number 10 than him in Rooney. Carrick was our best cm so had to play. Rooney on the other hand was sacrificed on the biggest game of Fergie's last year. No way would Fergie have dropped rvp for any tactical reasons.

Van persie has played 1 1/2 games this season and is being written off by the short term memory brigade again.
Instrumental in the 20th title and ferguson favoured him over rooney because rooney acted like a kid when asked to adapt for the team.Writing Van Persie off after 150mins of football, gotta laugh really. Give him 10 games and see where he and United are.

RVP took welbecks position, not Rooneys

Rooney was dropped for Madrid because of a misdemeanour and his form was poor

Last season rvps form was poor

It really isn't a question of favouritism, it's a question of form

Januzaj is the natural understudy to Mata and Di Maria, until he proves otherwise
