Doncaster Rovers vs Chesterfield

I've put this up so we have somewhere to bjtch about the board, manager, team and commentators for Saturday's match.
Feel free to post some jokes if you like as well.
Team news for Donny.... We only have 17 fit players so there'll be no massive amount of changes and only one poor (lucky) sod will miss out.

We have the worst two full backs in this division. if he goes into the loan market we need two new ones.

I've been away, so missed the last couple of matches. Didn't hold out much hope for this one but we made Chesterfield look very ordinary in the first half. It wasn't until the they brought on the big No 9 that they started to give us the run around. I would like to say that we won because we defended stoutly and although we did, like us, they missed a hatful of chances. It could have been 7-7. Excellent game for the fans and three useful points. Bring on Fulham. (Not looking forward to getting home in the early hours or later!)

After they got their second it was squeaky bum time. Did Evina play? I had difficulty seeing him!

Albi, your condensed post is a good reflection of what went on out there today.
I guessed that it would be an open game today and it was much more enjoyable to watch because Chesterfield also tried to win the game, unlike Crawley who just played ten at the back.
Because Chesterfield were prepared to attack us it meant that we could get behind them and Copps and Wabbara were terrific in exploiting that.
I actually think that Wabbarra is much improved from last season but Evina still has much to do to convince me that he is solid.
We don't have another left back though so he looks distined to play most weeks.
7-7 would have probably been a fair result today but the home win gets the monkey off our back.
Apparently Sheff wed won at home today, also for the first time since March.
I don't understand why anyone can have a go at the football that PD has got us playing at times.
Lanza, last season everyone in the ground was having a go at Bennett but it must just be in your corner where they are still at him because where i sit behind the goal they are admiring him now.
xon - love the Python Videos mate.
With regards to the comment about us just playing with one up front, what a load of tosh.
The line up might look like that but anyone who understands what is going on will realise that it allows us to get our other players into attacking positions.
We are nowhere near as effective when we play 4-4-2 as has been proven today.
I am with you on this one Lanza.

Hound,

Just to let you know that I have just seen PD's after game interview. How refreshing, no excuses and intelligent assessment of the game.

He criticised the players where he had to, ie. rushing to take throw ins etc and for trying to do too much and not playing to the game plan, especially the last twenty minutes.

I was most impressed and hope that all his interviews in the future are as good. I am able to understand the point about playing Tyson on his own.

Although how Chesterfield played may have helped that. I get the impression that they came to attack and not to close us down at every opportunity.

That is the point i was trying to make Ny, in general when we play at home in this division teams do come and play very defensively.
Crawley took this to the limit and as a result of that it was a bit like one of those defence v attack training games.
Even the best teams find it hard to play through a ten man defence, we see it at all levels now and it makes the games really boring to watch.

I have to say that i was impressed with Tysons' approach to the game yesterday, he ran after everything and looked 100% committed.
In the Crawley game he looked completely lost playing alongside Theo but in the formation on Saturday he looked like the player who used to scare me when he played against us for Forest.
One of our problems in the last games of last season was trying to accomodate Sharp and Brown into the same team and it just didnt work.
Hopefully we can continue to play the same formation as against Chesterfield because it works much better for us.
Going back to yesterday, i thought that DeVal had another good game and Wellens looks to be interested again so hopefully this bodes well for up and coming weeks.

Today I eat Humble Pie. GOT THAT ONE WRONG, never saw that coming.

well done the lads, although I thought we are still very weak at the back.

I will predict a defeat every game if that what happens. I dont mind having egg on my face if we are winning and moving up the table.

G'Day to yer all
