I thought it would be interesting to hear my fellow reds opinions on Brendan's signings so far. Has he invested the money from the Suarez sale wisely? Have his signings generally represented value for money?
What signing was his most astute? And which the least?
Over to you guys......
Brendan's Prowess In The Transfer Market

While he still has potential I think Luis Alberto could be a worse signing than Aspas.

He's had some stinkers for decebnt money but I do respect the way he drops them if they are not up to it. I do find it frustrating to see us spend the cash and then loan players out though.
I do think he struggles to attract certain players but at the same time I feel he is hampered by the boards wage structure when competing for these players such as Miki, Willian (who I think would have suited our system very well indeed), Costa and Sanchez. I'd like all of those in our team tbh but they're not.
I'm more concerned about his coaching of the defence but if we get Valdes I do think that will help - the organisation has to come from the GK in certain situations. I've made my mindup on Mig now.

IMO he's only made two good signings - Sturridge and Coutinho - although I feel Balotelli is a steal at 15m - I'm not sure he's the type of player BR knows hoe to play.
His signings last season were pretty average TBH and this season, he's signed 3 players from a team which finished mid-table - and overpaid for two of them! He hasn't answered any of the squad problems apart from maybe numbers, but he has failed to add quality and lost his best player to boot.
If you look at Liverpool's transfer dealings this year, is there anywhere they are stronger on the pitch? The answer has to be no. That's just poor.

As for Costa, it is widely reported here that he had more or less agreed to join Chelsea before Christmas. Chelsea tried to do it for the winter window but as Atletico were doing well, they couldn't get it done. And in the summer the delay was to do with his injury and rest period after the world cup.
There was never any chance of him joining any other team as he had already agreed to join Chelsea.

Willian, Mhkitaryan and Costa all stated the rejected due to a lack of Champions League. Shame we disnt have it last season as wed have these players before others came in flashing the cash.
Sanchez preferred London. Really wanted Costa last season but Sanchez this season even more. We certainly struggled to get the top players even with Champions League with players preferring other clubs.

Very good signings(who I think are get signings or will turn out to be)
Coutinho
Allen
Lovren
Moreno
Lambert
-------------------------
Can in very good list

That very good list is just a list of players that have (mostly) not played more than a couple games for you. They've hardly made enough of a mark to be classed as very good already. Coutinho aside.
I think he was poor in this past transfer window. You lost a massive attacking threat and that wasn't really replaced. Suarez struck fear in opposition players and Brendan shouldn've been trying to use the CL as a draw to similar type players. Di Maria, Falcao, Sanchez, Costa, Fabregas, all moved this summer to your rivals and would've helped bring that fear back into your attack. Right now with Balotelli, Markovic, and Lambert coming in I don't think it comes anywhere close. Sturridge and Sterling are quality though, but it still feels like you're missing that drive and spark that Suarez provided.

You're all missing the point, your first team hasn't really improved in any position (maybe MAYBE left back) after the summer spending and that's unforgivable havins spent so much money.

No you're missing the point. I suspect you were one of the ones saying that our first team was good but the squad was light.

Yes. That's what I said, players who are very good signings or who I think will be very good signings. I really don't know how I could have made that any clearer. As for the rest of your guff. Shshhhh.
