Alan Irvine

After tomorrow he could be "persona non grata" again. I hope not. It would be better if he were to settle in and make a go of it after so much change at the club. Clearly he is learning as he goes as long which is not ideal but the players seem to like him. He is some way from knowing our best team but after all the transfer activity who does? I would like to see Gamboa and Varela make the first team and hopefully they will.
I have to hold my hand up and say I don't think, for one second, things would have been any better under Sherwood and I too would have said no when he tried to get jobs for his mates at Tottenham as well, at ridiculous salaries. I know Irvine has no great history with undistinguished spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Preston but who of us know the real background i.e. what were the squads like, how much money was available and how much time did he get. Moyes clearly rated him.
He must feel like a cowboy being given the meanest horse at the Rodeo at the moment but I wish him well. If he succeeds, we succeed.

I totally agree with that too - if Al wins, we all win. I am also glad we didn't end up bankrolling the lifestyles of Tim Sherwood and his pal Les Ferdinand. Also, Irvine's got a much better squad and spending power than he ever had at Preston or Sheffield Wednesday - but that means he's under more pressure to deliver, and three points today will give him a decent start to the season. I really don't care who our head coach is as long as we continue to get the points we need to stay in this league, and we continue to play decent football.

Fingers crossed...

I wasn't at all impressed with the appointment of Irvine but was willing to at least give him a chance. Until the Spurs game, my inclination was tending towards 'get rid', but now, after three wins on the bounce, I'm not so sure. Still early days but after today's outstanding performance, might we all have misjudged AI ?

I can't even remember the last we won 4-0 in the Prem. Lescott continues to be a revelation and with his cajoling of his team-mates, he really should be appointed captain.

I don't think we have, baggieman, according to sky today.

Really good win today and it was great to be there to see it. Everyone played well. Burnley tried to play football but they just didn't have enough.

Wasn't there some team we beat 5-1 in the Prem?
