I thought the whole UFC 178 card was decent,but the fight i was most looking forward to was Mcgregor vs Poirer. In terms of trash talk and persona mcgregor has been a breath of fresh air to the UFC. He talks big but he delivers. That no nonsense irish attitude has won a lot of fans over including me and his fights are always entertaining. He put on a good performance against poirer who never really looked at ease.Connor was precise and patient with his attacks and once he had poirer dazed he swarmed and finished him.
His stock has risen tremendously and now he is a possible challenger for the champ.However i would like to see him face someone like swanson before he faces the champ so we can really see how good he is. Then if he beats swanson put him in with the champ.
Mcgregor might not be the greatest fighter we've ever seen but he knows how to sell fights and his style is very marketable plus the fact that he is irish and outspoken gives him another dimension. I personally think aldo would beat him but it would be one hell of a fight.
In other news,what on earth was cruz doing in the preliminaries. This is a former champion not a local off the street. Also who on earth did they put in against mighty mouse. I mean are they giving him easy fights on purpose or is the division that shallow.Cerrone put on a decent show but he is still one level below the top dogs for me.
Any ways thoughts on the card?

Tim Kennedy fight was a great watch. one of the classics
Im Irish myself but I just cant take to McGregor. I dont know what it is but I just cant get behind the guy. Its probably so many people asking me about him that never watch UFC or never would have if it wasnt for the hype. May be a good thing for the sport but you get a bit protective over something you've followed for year that people suddenly jump on.

UFC are certainly going to try cash in on him. Like Guv said, since GSP/Silva left/got beat there hasn't really been a big box office guy. They have Jon Jones, but 1 bloke fighting 2/3 times a year wont cut it when theyre used to 2/3 each from Silva, Jones and GSP.
The difference between Conor and those 3, is that he isn't the respectable company guy that they are...he is very outspoken and talks trash and is cocky & arrogant. People love that <shit>
It helps when he keeps knocking people out inside a round, after predicting such finishes. His resume so far in the UFC is definitely not the worst...

He'll get his push...I still think Swanson/Edgar (Nov 22nd) winner should fight the Aldo/Mendes (Oct 25th) winner.
Lamas had his shot at Aldo...maybe Lamas/Conor or Zombie/Conor for a shot at the belt after Edgar/Swanson.
I think Edgar beats Swanson & Aldo beats Mendes (Id love Cub to beat Frankie though!!)
And I think Aldo beats Edgar again...and think he would also beat Swanson.

Round 5 Vs Hominick and Rounds 4/5 Vs Edgar is when he has looked most human in the cage...im not sure Edgar has the power to really hurt him though he'd need 4/5 solid hit & run rounds with the occasional TD to help...not impossible for Frankie I admit!
I agree the Mcgregor push feels much much more natural when compared to the likes of Lesnar & Rousey.
Rousey has obviously backed up her hype to a certain extent, although I think Zingano will be her biggest threat to date...and ive not seen enough of Holm to know whether she is legit...former pro boxer and undefeated though....but the division does lack a depth of contenders.
Lesnar on the other hand...
