What will it take for Wenger to get sacked?

Genuine question Arsenal fans, Could he continue in this run of not addressing your main problems and getting 3rd/4th every season with the odd trophy here and there, Without getting sacked?

I understand he has done a lot for your football club, Won numerous trophies in the past, Went unbeaten the whole season and sealed CL football every year, Like I said though, Last season aside; All of these trophies came 9+ years ago and let's be honest, You wont win the CL ( I don't think any English club will) your out of the League Cup and if we beat use lot on Sunday you're 9 points behind us already.

What I'm trying to say is at what point to the Arsenal board assess the job he's done and think, Maybe he's not the man to take us forward as a genuine CL contender and Title winner, Or are they happy with scraping 4th every year with the odd trophy like I said and be done with it for another season?

Tbh WWSPD, it was a little joke. I know what you are saying though, i don't think our owners are as bad as most of the other PL owners.

Bless you for trying to protect our feelings, but it's not IF you win. It's WHEN.

For me, the following would have to happen for me to even consider sacking Wenger:

1)The quality of our football deteriorates significantly

Which has this season especially and parts of last season too. Last year we were much more functional in winning.

2) He's unable to take the players he buys/promotes (*cough* Ozil) and make them better.

At the moment, I'm getting seriously worried about the way he treats Ozil like he's just a cog in a machine you can just fling out to the LW.

3) His tactics get even worse than how they are now.
I have a major bugbear with this new formation and absolutely hate it. I also hate that he feels he has to play a playmaker out on the LW. I'd love to see us line-up with Walcott/Sanchez on both wings.

4) He loses his ability to attract top-class players, because why else would people want to leave Real/Barca for us? It's to play under Wenger.

5)When we finally reach the stage of being a footballing powerhouse....and he still refuses to spend the money on a padded out squad to address our short comings.

In all honesty, the above could happen in the next few years. I'd keep him for now, it's too hard to imagine which top-class manager would leave their current roles for Arsenal.

Very well put imo

1 - Quality this season has been very bad as was the end of last season.
2 - He doesnt improvide WC talent . im sure ozil has gone backward. You dont pay £42mil on the best no10 in the game and play him on the wing to accomodate jack freaking wilshite.
3 - Tactics have been shocking for about 5-6 years now. Fergie knew exactly how t obeat us. hell he even beat us with 8 defenders in a team.
4 - He can still attract top talent but then footballer these days are just mercs, pay them enough and they will come.
5 - We are a powerhouse with the money, have a wage bill similar if not higher than chelsea yet our team is nowhere near as good as them. we pay our players too much too soon which is why they dont improve.

Wenger wont be sacked within the next 3 years, that is a fact. However he would almost certainly leave if we finished outside of top four or he felt he had taken us as far as he could.

If we had not won the fa cup, Im pretty sure he wouldnt have signed the 3 year contract.

I think most fans are sick of having the same conversations over and over again.

Sick of quite clearly being 2-3 players short before the inevitable injuries kick in.

Sick of knowing that any corner/set piece we have high up the pitch is more likely to lead to a chance for the opposition than for us.

Sick of knowing that almost every decision made by the club, with perhaps the notable exception of the move to the Emirates, is reactive rather than proactive, and that, however close we may appear to challenging or pushing on as a club, that reactive nature will always hold us back.

100% this.

Also while I have been Wenger out for 2 years now, I think it would be stupid to sack him now. At the end of the season I would review the situation and decide whether to keep him on or not, ideally he should have left on a high as I said after the FA Cup I don't feel he could take us to the next level (and feel that even more strongly now). He could shock us all and have a good season with us, but I very much doubt that. I can genuinely see a good 5 or 6 goal thrashing this weekend and I am going to stick a healthy sum on Chelsea putting 5 or more past us at 22/1 because it just seems too likely to be ignored at a price like that.

What makes games against the likes of Chelsea worse is that their fans (fans by nature are often cautious and pessimistic optimists when it comes to big games) don't even flinch at the prospect of us coming to play. I just find that sad.
