Jackie Mac......

After the reign of Peter Houston, Jackie was like a breath of fresh air at the start of last season.
But towards the end when results weren't going so well my confidence started to go due to his unwillingness or inability to change tactics.
Despite our league position this season he still hasn't done anything to restore that confidence.
He shifted Graham because he presumably doesn't fit into his plans.
Fair enough but not to replace him is for me negligent.
He brought in Telfer who hasn't had a sniff but leaves us with only one main striker.
Dundee have 5 or 6 to pick from.
Yes we beat them twice but not due to any brilliant attacking play.
I saw some of last night's game and struggle to believe that he took Ciftci off and replaced him with some unknown guy and kept the same system that wasn't working.

Just waiting to hear what Ivan made of last night?

Thought it was a decent game - Kilmarnock look a far better team than last season, albeit helped by their plastic pitch. That first goal was a cracker

Now behind Hamilton in the league again.

I do like McNamara's ideas and style of football, but he really has to change it when it's not working. Having only two strikers doesn't help things. He's done well, and we're going well in the league but relatively small measures could make us considerably better.

Jackie said yesterday that he took Ciftci off because he was frustrated and might have got himself sent off.
So there's a message for the rest of the teams.
Wind Ciftci up and I'll take him off and play without a main striker.

His comments only highlight his mistake in not bringing in a replacement for Graham.

I agree with a lot of what's being said here.

I really want to be positive about Jackie and stay positive, and I think there's a lot to be positive about, but there are a number of issues that he consistently fails to address.

As said, the decision to move Graham out and not replace him was bizarre and might end up hurting us as the season progresses. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Graham was the right 'fit' for United anyway and despite his goals for Saints I'm not going to pretend he would have been the difference on Friday, but it's frighteningly obvious that we can't go a whole season with just two strikers, or three if he's going to pretend that Dow is a striker again (and he's been honking all season by the way).

He needs a plan B (and we very briefly had one in a game earlier this season when we went 442) while I still have major reservations about his ability to organise the team when we go down to 10 men.

Jackie is still very much a work in progress, as is the team.
