Sergio Aguero

From a neutral...

The most underrated, lethal footballer in the World.

posted on 4/10/14

Aguero is the perfect box striker - a bit like Romario. His instincts around the box to work himself some space or finish are the best in the league. Probably only Van Nistelrooy in the PL era had the same instinctive ability. His threat is in how elusive he is in those key areas with his sharp movement. Suarez can struggle with his finishing at times, but he's usually a constant menacing threat, drifting all around looking to score or create. He scores a greater variety of goals - including a big set-piece threat - and his dribbling, his link-up play and creativity are better than Aguero's.

Agree with ioag. On some days, he does look like he isn't up for it. Even on his best days though, Suarez is a better player.

I don't agree with that. They're pretty even at their best, they can both rip teams (and the very best teams) apart.

I don't even rate Aguero as the best player at city let alone in the league

Just to clarify my own comment, I wasn't comparing him to Suárez. When it comes to comparing them, I consider Agüero the more technically accomplished footballer, though I'd say Suárez's hungrier (weak pun intended).

Aguero is exceptional. Him, Silva, Toure and Kompany are key to that City team.

Aguero can play in any system - as a lone striker, as a number 10, or alongside a target man in a 4-4-2. His movement, power and finishing is on another level to any other player. Was poor yesterday yet still hit the post and scored despite Villa's defensive tactics.

City were brilliant yesterday but we were really poor and missed Gabby's pace. Desperately need Benteke fit again and Vlaar's leadership.

Villa were really unlucky to lose gabby so close to kick off, Benteke coming back should give them a lift and i can't see them struggling in the lower half this season.
