Game Today

Chelsea v Arsenal

Courtois - Hopefully he is ok. Great keeper. You never want to see anybody suffer from a bad injury, especially a head injury. Get well soon.

Cahill - Poor tackle, but Alexis is quick so understandably Cahill does not want Alexis to get the touch and go past him. Intention wasn't to injure so yellow fair. Look back at it again though and you will see the pace on the pass, from you know who (albeit after some good skill) was slow and lazy. If Ozil cannot see Cahill coming in on Alexis, then he must be blind.

Koscielny - Stopping Hazard at that pace is near impossible. Only mistake he made. Being honest, Hazard shouldn't have gotten into the box anyway. Yellow fair. Let's not ruin the game, just like Cahill situation.

Wilshere - General play 7 or 8/10. But I'm giving him a 5 for first half. His terrible pass got Chambers booked, changed momentum of game away from us. Another awful touch in front of goal, our best chance. Fluffed it. 1-1 score line wasted. Improved in second half. Tried hard.

Arsenal stood up to the challenge collectively.

But Ozil was by far the worst. A 4/10 first half. Movement was good, made himself available. But his passing was too slow, like his thinking and he lost possession 5/6 times, killing forward momentum, and basically making it easy for Chelsea. I'd go as far to say we were playing 12 vs 10 at times, just not acceptable. Should have been subbed at half time. Fackk his confidence, it's a team game. Play him against Hull, not Chelsea.

Everybody else fairly solid. Impressed by Flam and Santi in particular. Welbeck tried his best, pity we couldn't get him in on goal. As with Alexis. Defensive shape was good. Chelsea created very little, like ourselves. A real 50/50 battle with small margins deciding the result.

Wenger - 0/10 (on the day).. Tactics before were good. Decision making throughout the game shameful.

Why?
- Why no Oz for Ozil @ half time? Fail. Ozil was useless, a waste of space.
- Cazorla off for Oz, instead of Ozil? Ultimate fail. Cazorla looked much more dangerous. Came closest to scoring twice. Why take an 8/10 Santi off for a 5/10 Ozil. Serious lack of logic. Santi must be fuming.

Verdict

The difference between Jose and Arsene all boils down to decision making. I.e, one manager knows how to make them, and one certainly does not.

Well done Chelsea. Thoroughly deserved. You stood up to Arsenal standing up to you and kept a dangerous opponent at bay once again.

Just a pity Arsenal had one hand tied behind their back in Ozil. They were never given the chance to throw their strongest punch in the end.

No contest, once again, better showing from AFC this time around!

and lets not get into a Fabregas/Ozil debate.

Switch both players around, Ozil would be racking up assists in a Chelsea shirt.

There is no debate. One player is calm, cool and collective in that even when he makes a mistake he has the ability to correct himself and go again.

The other player? This man is depressed, struggles to make decisions and is impossible to help as he shows no desire to change. I wish him well in Life but he should be nowhere near a football field, let alone the Premier League.

Arsenal had a bit of fight about them this time which is good to see. They definitely need more of that.

He probably wouldn't be that way if he was at Chelsea. He'd be well protected.

Koscielny should have been sent off. Hazard was clean through, and it was a clear goal scoring opportunity. Having said that, I understand the ref not wanting to punish him twice - but the letter of the law suggests he was very fortunate.
Chambers - I think the first yellow was very harsh. It was a foul, but I don't think there was any malice there at all. Having said that, the second foul on Hazard was a definite yellow, and I think the ref just wimped out (again). Both the Koscielny and Chambers decisions could have cost Chelsea a couple of points in a close game - but in the end they mattered little.
Welbeck- definite red card with 2 feet off the ground. I think the ref just felt the game was over by that point, so it didn't matter. Even Mourinho suggested that Welbeck is not a bad guy - he was probably just frustrated. But he should have been sent off - no doubt.
