I didn't say they did; I said he came regarded as such, which he did, hence he was still one of the world's top players.

Wenger's use of him is only exasperating his poor play.

But serious question, if £32m Willian or £24m Oscar were having bad games (Oscar, other than his workrate was actually crap today - comfortably worse than Ozil), would they get the kind of scrutiny Ozil gets?

Oscar jumped in front of a goal bound effort to keep his side in the lead.

Ozil couldn't even put in a whole hearted challenge.

Of course not, which is probably unfair, but it's also the nature of the beast. Ozil came with the reputation of being the best number 10 in the world and a price tag that made him the 2nd most expensive transfer in premier league history. Those two didn't.

It's like comparing the stick Torres got with Welbeck. Apples and oranges.

Buying someone like Ozil and then putting him on the wing is just wrong. He should be played in the middle.
