players vs management

Mentioning no names as it is not an issue specific to Spurs, but what has been happening more and more over the last few years is that it is not club management that is actually managing a team of players but the players who seem to be taking/being given more and more power and managment has just caved. In doing so players seem to have the power to dictate to management (when they play, how much they earn etc), unsettle other players and the team and generally do as they please on and off the pitch. Reminds me of the growing problem of feral borstal 'children' and lack of parental authority and control that we've seen a lot of recently

Management need to get a grip or football will be completely ruined by self interest and get back to basics of players playing IN A TEAM rather than for their own careers/financial benefit.

Sorry for rant but seems like football is getting completely out of control.

grandspur I think you may be right about bankruptcies - I'm torn between guilt at almost hoping that will happen and glad that it might bring the football world back to its senses and get back to proper football.

My head spins (apart from lots of lemsip and brandy) from the sums of money being chucked around and the debt loads being carried by some clubs.

Alvar

I know what you mean it will take one of the big clubs mega bucks chairman pulling the plug and killing the club before the majority of people realise the stupidity of the current circus.

I will feel genuine sorrow for the fans of whatever club it is but I will be more than happy that the football world will once again be one of relative sense.

Nice one Grand. I've just read Ade won't sign unless we get Diarra here(Sounds like Diarrhoea doesn't it?) and that's player power alright.

When you think that the likes of Jimmy Greaves & Denis Law were only on £60 a week in the early 60'S............................................I have always said that clubs should only be allowed to spend a % of their turnover on wages & this should never be more than 50%........................................that would help to bring things back into line sharply.

Man City for instance spent something like £133million on wages last season and their operating income was only around £80million.......................absolutely madness & it has to end.

If clubs do not comply, hit them with penalties (no not those sort of penalties!!) such as points deductions, refusal to put them forward as representatives in Uefa competitions etc.................I know it would be difficult & probably litigious, but something has to give.

I was listening to a Spurs supporter on talksport this afternoon & he was saying Levy should go to Joe Lewis & get him to release over £100m to fund transfers.............................Totally stupid!

As has already been said, the clubs will not be able to maintain this spending spree and yes genius you are totally right.
