FLEETWOOD V ROVERS MATCH THREAD

Rovers travel to Fleetwood for the very first time ever in the history of football.
Because their is no history of this fixture to write about anyone could have done this article because it won't take any time, well except for people in Malta.
After back to back away wins we should go there in good spirit and there is also the chance that Curtis Main will be ready to return to the team, giving the manager a selection problem up front.
Tyson playing in a lone striker role has been brill for us so it could be tough for Curtis to get back in without us changing the way we have been setting up.
Hopefully we will take just enough fans to boost the gate to 4050 (just a random figure plucked from thin air) and we will win 3-1 with the first goal by Tyson.
ALL 606ers welcome to contribute to the thread just as long as pi55 take is allowed without recrimination.

In desperate need of leadership, both on and off the pitch.

Now I've had a mull over yesterday I will give my opinion on the players and management yesterday. Firstly take nothing off Fleetwood they look a class act but at times we let them pass the ball around far to easily.

Steer - made some excellent saves to keep Fleetwood to just 3. A number of 1 hand and full stretch saves kept the score on out part respectable. He did however fail to come for a number of crosses and his kicking weren't his best either. Our Man of the match however.

Wabarra and Evina - I'll include these together as lot of things which occurred they were both at. They provided some but little width going forward but time and time again they let there wingers get the better of them. I do feel that they are the worst 2 full backs I have seen at our club since the 97/98 season, they don't fill you with any confidence and all fleetwoods goals came from attacks down our left.

Mccoombe - ate pretty much everything aerial from the Fleetwood long balls still unsteady on his feet passing.

McCullough - maybe his international weekend played havoc with his performance but it was quite poor. Often turned easily marking no one for the Fleetwood tap ins, distribution was just to hoof it at every opportunity.

Wellens - no existant. Offered small glimpses of the old Wellens when passing forwards in the first half. Got caught in possession numerous times and didn't try to recover and track back.

Keegan - as per usual everything went back but did a shift up and down. Tried joining up with a lone Tyson and defended ok.

Copps - only time we looked like scoring is when he was on the ball. We didn't use him enough and the crosses he put in only Tyson was there to aim for.

De val - played everything simple, put his foot in but again found wanting when defending.

Forester - did he play? Very disappointing, created next to nothing, too physical for him at times.

Tyson - led the line very well had a number of flick ons and touches but not enough bodies ran in behind him. Scored.

Subs - little or no impact. Bennett came on created a couple of chances, did more than forester in his short time.

Dickov. Moaning at the ref linesman at most decisions. Failed to change things earlier when 2-1 down. Taking mccombe off when he normally puts him up front was baffling but not sure if he was injured or not. The first 10 mins of each half we ok we passed and moved quite well but then had nothing. We had no leadership on or off the field. Seems everytine we a result or 2 together we fall flat on our faces whether there's an international break or not.

Looking forward to tuesday azza.
Cant see what can do differently in defence with what he has got.
On Evina and Wabara they have played for him before so he knows what they can and cant do

Don't worry about yankee coming back Maverick.
He has made more comebacks than Muhammed Ali.
He has already got what he wanted, a sympathy vote from someone.
I'm not sure why he quit this time though.
He was joining in the banter last week and seemed quite happy to give and take.

Azza, thanks for the match report, it is always better to get an opinion from people who are there.
I agree with you about the fullbacks, Evina in my opinion, is particularly dodgy.
I would like to have a look at Lund at right back on Tuesday and maybe put Wabbara to left back as he is the better of the two we had on show on Saturday.
I agree with Lanza though, PD doesn't have much choice of defenders does he.

Hound funny you should mention Lund as a couple of people mentioned about him playing more and starting especially with how well he played at Burton.

There were also murmurings behind me on Saturday that we are lining up a defender on loan but I couldn't hear as to who it was or when they were arriving.
