I made a call recently that we needed a back up striker as Balo is not the man to lead the line on his own and got slated.

We need another Striker ASAP

The club did try to bring in a pacey mobile striker.

However, what is frustrating is that firstly we pulled out of the Remy deal. Secondly have a young mobile striker on loan who can't play for us and thirdly have two misfiring Italians who both in their own ways have thus far been pretty abject (although it;s early days for Mario, although he has done little to dispel my belief that this signing is doomed to failure).

I think you've fallen into the trap again of not giving the players a chance to improve.

I wouldn't deny new players will or could improve. That's not really what I was getting at.

We had an excellent team pattern last season based mostly on the diamond and all the players were interchangeable. Since we let Luis go Brendan has failed to restore the balance.

How is Balotelli going to improve to have the all round play and adaptability Luis had? And Lambert and Borini for that matter?. These are the players that Brendan has selected to accompany Sturridge in the full knowledge that he spends time out injured. Did he not think about the very scenario we are facing now?

We had 70million quid from the Suarez sale and that should have been spent ensuring that we had a decent replacement for Luis instead of watering the money down into a selection of stocking fillers.

That will mean we end up outside the top four and with a short run in the CL. Bookmark if you like.
