Lukaku & Barkley

Barkley has been the missing link between Lukaku and the midfield, today showed just how important Barkley is in getting us results in the final 3rd.

For me McCarthy is the key to how we play

I agree to a certain extent but it seems that barkley gives us that extra spark.

Without the dirty work done by McCarthy then Barkley wouldn't be able to shine so much

Yet another tireless performance from Naismith,he covers so much grass, one minute he's up front pestering the opponents defence, and then within a blink of an eye, he's defending our box. I love the guy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I spent most of Naismith's time at Everton laughing at him but he's really been very good this season. Not just the goals but overall.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He reminds me a bit of kuyt. 100% effort a decent amount of skill and pops up in big games with important goals. Never going to be the best player in a squad but ever squad needs one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a good example, but he reminds me more of Cahill; not the most skilful player, but he times his runs to perfection, and is a pain in the ârse to play against.

Thanks for the complement Toor.

That's the comparison I would give to Naismith.

But his clever interplay and also pace makes him a tricky player in the hole as a false 9

Mccarthy has been doing the dirty work but not had barkleys spark back until today. Suppose we are just lucky to have both of them

Although i didn`t go to the Game, i felt, and the commentators on screen and radio, expressed the view that the atmosphere was a bit strange in the Ground and that there was a subdued air throughout the proceedings, apart from the Villa Fans who seemed very enthusiastic, although i can`t, for the life of me,imagine why.
Did anyone else sense the same?

We didn't make much noise ( nothing new there). Villa started singing "3 nill and you still don't sing"

Definitely a comparison I've been thinking about this season. I think Kuyt was a better player overall and had better technique but it's very important to have a player in your squad like them. Perhaps we don't have one now and that's an issue when we get outbattled. Like Kuyt, Naismith never gives the defence time on the ball and that creates a nervousness. Suarez was probably our play like that last season and now we don't have one.

Surely Rooney is 'the missing link'

Well if Kuyt was/is a better player then there is no comparison?
