I think it's fairly obvious now that he makes a better number 10 than a CM in this league. Last night he showed he can be the same handful he was at Everton. We looked far more of a threat once he came on as Mata was a total passenger.
I know it's not the "united way" and it's not pretty I agree.......but Fellaini ruffling some feathers and either Falcao, RVP or both feeding off him is not the worst idea in the world.
Mata will be totally ineffectual against Chelsea. He'll be bullied off the ball Rooney is not available and Carrick isn't fit enough to start. Herrera may also miss out.
We don't have a whole lot of choice really. Imagine if Microphone head got the winner
Fellaini as number 10 on sunday?

I remember in that Fulham game last season where we made something like 100 crosses, all I was thinking was this is why we have Fellaini and he's not even playing.
Like BB says, if we can get crosses into him in the box he could be very useful, as could Falcao.

Rooney is suspended.
Mata would be totally anonymous if he plays and bullied off the ball.
Januzaj is very much a work in progress and could be an option from the bench when they are tiring.

Fellaini got his first goal last night so his confidence will be up a little. Let's give him a go in his best position. We need some more height and physicality this weekend.

It can be pretty. when RVP pulls the ball down from an impossible pass, it is pretty.... Why is it not when Fellaini does it?
When Costa or Drogab ruffle everyone's feathers, it is rarely consider ugly, so you why is in is Fellaini does.
Interestingly, last night... Him and Mata "shared" the #10 duties and Fellaini was quite effective further back too, his 1st touch was a great pass wide with the outside of his boot.
He was not playing as an obvious #10 at all, but he was given license to push up, with Mata dropping back. I see something similar against Chelsea.

I'm one of Fellaini's biggest critics, but I'm pleased for the lad that he got his goal and hopefully he goes on to be a success for us, but it won't be as a DM/CM, he's a forward, we looked so much more dangerous, and I think had Di Maria not gone off we might have won yesterday

It's a difficult one, I'd personally like to see Carrick, Blind and Herrera all start together in a proper 4-3-3, with Di Maria and Valencia wide of Falcao

If we're going to play a one striker system particularly against teams like Chelsea and City then I would prefer somebody more physical and aggressive up front so it goes without saying Falcao should start and I hope he does. I'm losing patience with RvP.
If long balls and crosses are going to be as frequent as they were last night, then use the players who are best in the air and who properly attack the ball.
It's not ideal, but Falcao with Fellaini supporting could be hugely effective in certain games. That said however, I still don't think Fellaini is as useless deeper as some do.
