“I am trying hard and it’s about getting used to everything. When you come to a club like this it’s never easy for a young player like me. But I’ll get myself started soon and put in good performances. I wouldn’t say I’ve been horrendous but I know I can do much better. And I need to do better. I’ve come to Manchester United and I know what they need. I’ve been working hard and the performances will come."
He was grateful, however, to get some more game time under his belt. “It always helps and the main thing for me was it was two 90 minutes for fitness," Shaw said, reflecting on the under-21 matches against Croatia. “I feel fit but, like I said, I haven’t played my best recently. That’s football. Hopefully I’ll come out of it now. I think I could still get a bit fitter from working hard in training. But I do feel pretty fit."
To come away from The Hawthorns with a draw, Shaw admitted that it was a disappointing evening. “We knew what we had to do but unfortunately we didn’t get the result," he said. “It’s definitely two points lost – we’re Man United, we come to win every game. They only had two shots on target [but scored two goals] and that’s not good enough for us. We’ll focus hard this week and be ready for the game [against Chelsea] on Sunday."

I think Vidic was alot smarter than you're giving him credit for.
---------------
and people saying Jones has no brain and not giving him any credit.
It is pure group mind.... That read it here, then study his game and pick out any tiny mistakes,,, regardless of his positioning and good play, throughout a game.
I blame the match thread.
How many mistakes did Jones make on Monday... 1? and he should have been backed up, as he was clearly instructed to move the ball out more by LvG, at half time..

This
It's like sheep.
He was our best defender this season before he got injured

I watched 3 PL games last weekend and I swear to god the referees generally think they're part of the entertainment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, it's a shambles. They all have ego's bigger than the players yet have probably never played to a half decent standard.
................
This is why I bitched for weeks about Clattenburg getting a free ride from LVG for a totally shocking performance in the Leicester game.
If the managers don't take issue, then the league will not do anything about the poor quality, and the refs will continue as is, without any fear.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but then the managers get fined, especially a manager new to the league managing Man Utd, he'd get torn to shreds.
You really need every manager to call out the crap refs when they have a stinker. It doesn't happen enough for me. Ref's should also have to explain their decisions to the public.
As for the Bundesliga, the league is fast paced but I agree less physical than the PL, but their officials are at least consistent. My biggest gripe with refs is that they will book players for one thing, then let another go for the same offence. It happens to us ALL the time, our players get booked for a tackle when an opposition player has made 5 of the same tackle and not been sent off.

Managers don't get fined for criticising refs. They have to question their integrity to get a fine or ban

I don't give a flying one if he's young. he cost a lot and he's on huge wages, washes he thought he was worth. Whether he's young or not he need to start performing. End of,

To be fair it's almost one and the same. It's difficult in the aftermath of a game to say a ref got something so horribly wrong, and not criticise him.
A manager should come and say "you ask every other manager in the league if that was a penalty" or something similar and you may be onto something.

It came up not long ago bb
A manager can critisise a refs performance or state he got a decision wrong
You just can't accuse them of bias or being unfit, or generally saying they shouldn't be reffing etc
LVG can say the ref had a poor game if he wants and point out why

He's a decent player young Luke, not sure he's Utd standard

time will tell, but...
Buttner impressed me in his first couple of games more than Shaw has so far and look what happened to him

We were ripped off in buying shaw-I mean that in that he is not a 30m player or has the level of potential to merit that fee.
I believe he is a decent LB and with patience will become a solid fixture for us. But a 30m player, not a hope in hell, and this is based on his form at saints more than for us.
IMO, I didn't think Phil jones was as bad a people made out on Monday.
