So if i put my goalie on the half way line does that mean it restrics opposing team to shooting from behind the half way line?

Wow. Didn't think it was that hard to understand. You must have 2 players behind or level to the opposition to be onside. Typically one of them is a keeper but doesn't have to be... And you can't be offside in your own half.

the goalie becomes the last line of defence in the offside rule because there is an outfied player on the line and tevez is between them so he is offside

If you put your goalie on the half way line everyone would shoot from their own half.

You don't have to be in front of the keeper to be onside, you're offside if you're ahead of the second last opponent, whether that be the GK, CB or CF it doesn't matter the keeper could be the furthest player forward and you could still be onside

Alright mex, i get it now, cheers

You could put a player on the line. But he'd be acting as a goalkeeper but without the use of his hands.

Putting the GK on the halfway wouldn't achieve anything in terms of playing people offside, there could still be two defenders behind him

Put the keeper on half way line, and watch the opposition just run from their own half and put the ball into the unguarded net.
I have heard some ridiculous things on this site, but this has to be a wind up.
