but come on now, this version of Cristiano Ronaldo is just better than the great Brazilian man ever was.

He's did it in a cold night in Stoke

Aye lad, if you can't do it on a cold night in Stoke then you're not worth your salt as far as I'm concerned. Pele ? Maradona ? They never did it in Stoke

Either you haven't seen much of the brazillian Ronaldo or you have a memory issue. No one can come close to him. Not even Pele and Maradona.

Brazilian Ronaldo is one of the best to ever play the game but so also is messi,Ronaldo, maradona, pele, ronaldinho, Henry, zidane, bergkamp, Neyma weah, shearer, drogba, Zola, baggie, the two ronaldo,s and messi with maradona and zidane are probably the best I,'ve seen in my lifetime

All depends on what you look for in a player and probably what era you grew up in.
My dad still insists nobody has ever been better than George Best, but I think a player could score 200 every season and he'd still feel the same way.
Cristiano Ronaldo gets my vote but that's probably because he's the only one out of the 'greats' list that I've had the pleasure to watch live. I was absolutely mesmerised by him and even though it sounds a bit daft, television doesn't do his power and pace justice. The guy is an absolute machine and watching him in full flow from 100 yards away just blew me away.

That happens with certain players. They look even better when you watch them live. For Chelsea I always thought Gudjohnsen looked even better in the flesh than he looked on TV for whatever reason.
Another player who looked better live was Steed Malbranque, remember him ? He played for Fulham but he impressed me a lot.

Sadly football is a stats based game
Now, like in basketball, people look to goals and assists nowadays. It's been americanised.
Zidane wasn't prolific but he was a fantastic player.
Messi and Ronaldo will always get plaudits for their stats but as a player messi is better in my view.

I remember coming down to the Bridge for our FA Cup 3rd round clash against you (2008?) when you beat us 3-1 and was amazed by Salomon Kalou, a player I'd always seen as pretty average in truth from televised matches. John Terry also seemed a foot taller live!
