As you said, the Palace match was irrelevent. But you can't hide the fact that Liverpool conceeded 2 goals against Fulham (over two matches), 3 against Norwich and 4 against Cardiff.

That's 9 goals conceeded against teams that got relegated. The writing was on the wall

We drew with Fulham, lost to Norwich, and City lost to Cardiff as well.

I agree that Liverpool's defense has been poor for over a year now though

Rodgers is the best thing to have happened to football, his false split no.9 position and inside out wingers have moved the game onto a new level.
He has also helped out clubs by paying inflated fee's for players and then getting them to perform below par so the pressure is taken off the selling clubs

Been saying it for ages, I don't think buying different defenders will make any difference

The problem is the system and coaching imo

We've tried plenty of different defenders and they all suffered the same fate

They've hardly been top notch defenders though. Skrtel, Lovren, Agger, Sakho, and a past it Toure wouldn't have gotten a game in Chelsea's backline

Not sure there are many top notch defenders out there really but I have seen both Sakho and Lovren play far more commandingly than they have for us.

Someone like terry would help our set piece problem but he'd get bummed thrice a match Thai prison style with the high line 2 at the back style

Lets get sakho to steal varane when we go to madrid
