Gerrard on a free....?

Would it be worth taking a punt on Evertonian Gerrard as he runs his contract down?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29845114

The closest he has come to the league trophy so far has been in the Royal Blue of Everton....http://sillyseason.com/sites/default/files/article_images/528119_4432791937079_287830099_n.jpg

Would he be happy with a supporting role on the bench, maybe making the odd cameo as Eto'o has done for us?

You don't just become the school of science overnight, anyone with links to the City would understand the football culture of the two sides over the years.

I understand well enough thanks.

I was merely respondint to a comment about your 'controlled possession & passing culture', as if it's never been away.

You didn't play particularly attractive football over 20 years. Kendall's 80s sides being the last of it.

I've said nothing about how we play the game.

As they said and I have said, it's part of the culture of the club, it may have gone away from it for a while.....but it is/was still part of the culture

I don't see many Reds on here claiming we played good, passign football under Roy, or Rafa.

Thankfully under Brendan we are playing more in this vein.

Everton were a wonderful side, and have the potential under Roberto to be one again, but don't pretend you've played this style of football for near a decade under Moyes

It is Arouna and you're playing more like that now, like us you may have lost that identity for a period.

A while?

We're talking about roughly the same amout of time from Catterick to Kendall & the lovely football they played.

This wasn't a blip, a succession of managers moved Everton away from that 'culture'.

It was once there & it left. Martinez to his credit is 'bringing it back'.

When was the last swashbuckling footballing Liverpool side?
One playing in this Liverpool style as under Rodgers, was that the Kenny side of the late 80's

The 87-88 side is obviously considered our best side, for good reason to. It was a slick team. With an outstanding front three at their best.

Our domination though was largely built on a methodical, sopmetimes cautious approach. Which probably didn't endure us to many.

I'd say the 95-97 side was pretty swashbuckling at times. We talk about the Newcastle entertainers but we were just as thrilling to watch at both ends, the latter for other fans of course!

Everton don't condone divers so he will be a bad fit for us
