When will our luck run out?

It's interesting to see people talk about our recent form as if it's improving. In some ways it is but we've been extremely lucky in 3 of our past 4 games.

Against Everton it required some super saves from DDG that stopped us from drawing and even possibly losing to Everton at home. Against Chelsea some more super saves stopped Chelsea winning by a couple and we were very lucky the ref didn't see Chris 'the Rock' Smalling wrestling in the box as well as were massively fortunate to see Ivanovic sent off.

Against City we really should have been down to 9 men and had about 3 penalties given against us. We were lucky that the Rojo incident happened just just after the Smalling sending off as there was no way the ref would have sent off two United players in 5 mins. Had the ref been good at his job we would have probably been annihilated yesterday with 9 men.

Some of our performances have been good (in patches) but if i'm being honest it's been down to De Gea and bad refereeing that we haven't walked away with 3 losses in those games.

I think fellow United supporters would think the same if we really looked hard enough.

Hafi - feel free to come on and talk about the reffing decisions we didn't get in 1934 which mean these refereeing decisions in our favour are justified.

Moyes had no luck during games at all so maybe LVG is a lucky manager! We need that at the moment.

Jeez is this article still going.... Can't be bothered reading the 200+ posts since I last read this. Lets look at the incidents in the match from a Ref's view ( I did the course 20 years ago due to lack of ref's in our Sunday league). Fellaini on Aguero ... cannot give it as view is restricted so if in doubt . NO PEN..(plus aguero went down to easily.
Rojo toe poked the ball and the ball changed direction so no Pen.
Fellaini and Carrick on Aguero was a Pen but hard to give as there was minimal contact and once again Aguero went down like a sack of potatoes.
The Handball one was ball to hand at close range, again no Pen.
There was also 2 incidents against UTD as well.
Zabeleta should of gone for 2 bookable offences and also Hart could of gone or at least got a yellow for getting in the face of the Ref after the Smalling booking when there was no need to.
IN the end Robb 1-0 was a fair result. Utd are improving and once we can have a settled back four and hopefully bring in a couple of more players, we will get even better and results will also improve
So Robb stop feckin whinging and nit picking

Moyes had issues that made his job harder, of course. Be he still didn't do well enough and never really looked like he would.

LVG has had issues that have made his job harder but still hasn't done good enough so far. Whether he looks like he will do remains to be seen. But I think there's more chance of him rebuilding United into a top side than Moyes ever would have.

Time will tell. Moyes and LVG were brought into do two different jobs and so direct comparisons are difficult to make.

And we can only speculate what LVG would have done coming into replace Fergie and how Moyes would have done doing what LVG has had to do.

Robb, I know you used to live in Australia, but are you, actually Australian?

You certainly seem to have the footballing knowledge of your average, longhaired Aussie who wears boardies and kicks a football like a 6 year old.

I don't get the argument that Zabaleta should have gone. It's assuming that he would have still made the same tackle had he already been given a yellow card, which he wouldn't have done. He's not Smalling...

LVG has turned Fellaini into what looks like something resembling a midfielder

That's the stuff of genius

I think both sides in this debate have relevant points.

First forget Moyes. We finished 7th and he was rightly sacked.

LVG has had a poor start. That cannot be denied. We sit 10th. I said earlier in the thread he gets a 3 out of 10 from me. That doesn;t mean however that over the next couple of months he won't get a 10. Signs are improving

We need to start winning games though. Starting this weekend. Pretty sure we will too

.........

Melts

In my case it wasn't that he should have gone, but how you perceive luck.

Robbs article is heavily (idiotically is probably a better word) biased on luck City didn't have.

The Zab comments are a reverse of those.

One could say that because Zab didn't get booked for a foul very similar to the one Smalling earnt his second yellow for, then Smalling was unlucky to be sent off.

He wasn't at all, but that isn't the point.

Hope that makes sense. In the end this is really one of the OP's most pathetic articles ever. So far I have only seen one idiot agree with him.

Yep, I get it in that context VC.

An improvement on 7th would not be failure considering the hand LvG was dealt. A far worse one than Moyes
---------------------------------------------------------------

Don't be stupid.

Moyes -

Past it Rio, Evra, Vidic with Cleverley, Carrick and Fletcher as his midfield. Young and Valencia on the wings. RVP missing lots of the season with no world class replacement at #9. Also a far better top 4 than this season.

LVG -

Shaw, Hererra, Rojo, Blind, Falcao and Di Maria all signed.
_______________________

That is not the hand that LVG was dealt - those are his own signings you muppet.

Your own comment demonstrates that you believe those players are better than what LVG inherited yet you give him no credit for signing them in the first place.

Give them time to gel. I'll be as vocal as anyone in criticising the manager if we are still tenth in April but not at the beginning of November.

Do people really not think that low confidence (from last season), injuries, individual errors and new players settling in have all played their part and will take time to sort out?

...............
You mean the game De Gea was a spectator and Courtois saved them from getting a hammering. De Gea saves in the game were one didier drogba shot 1st half straight at him, 2nd half Chelsea scored from resulting corner after Hazard shot wa saved so really that 40yd shot from Willian and Drogba save were it.

I knew our near completely dominant performances would mean we will win a lot of games once bad luck goes out of it and freakish stats for opposition nearly scoring every shot they have.
