10 Year Anniversary

This is nothing stupid like a wedding anniversary. It's something far more important.

Today is the 10 year anniversary of the last time Dundee won a derby game against Dundee United.

The wee team across the road haven't had much luck in recent years in general, but they're fairly getting used to skelping after skelping from the big team in the city.

It got me thinking about the changes in my life since the Dees last won a game against the Terrors. Back then I was 23, not long out of university trying to figure out what I wanted out of life.

Now I'm 33, in a shítty job and still have no idea what I want out of life.

At least I was single back then I suppose.

So in recognition of this day, and the decade long domination of derby games in Dundee, where were you 10 years ago and what advice would you give yourself if you could go back?

I was 16 the last time we beat United? Cheers for that.

Robbie, it was a long time ago mate.

A lot has happened since that day. A couple of administrations, at least half a dozen managers and a fair few derby defeats for you to suffer.

It is actually incredible that it's been a decade, even if you were down the leagues for a fair chunk of that.

We have never really been in a position to beat you until now. 2 seasons ago we were very close despite being a terrible team. This season we should have already beaten you. Surely we will this season and definitely more chance at Tannadump. 12:15 on January 1st? You staying up for that?

The only time you came close 2 years ago was in the cup with Bomber in charge. We scored two perfectly legitimate goals to win. The other games we were miles ahead of you and comfortably won.

You probably should have won at Tannadice this season though and probably would have if you kept 11 on the park, and I agree that's where your best chance is. I'll definitely be there on New Years Day with a horrific hangover. Hopefully people will be respectful of my hangover and not make too much noise.

Do you not remember 2 years ago when Conroy scored at Tannadump and we were 1-0 up going into the final minute of stoppage time? Once again with 10 men I think it was.

I totally forgot about that one.

I just remember the series of 3-0 wins. I forgot about the league draw before the split.

Another significant milestone - yesterday was the 8-year anniversary of Levein's first game in charge, where we tanked Rangers thanks to sublime strikes from Garry Kenneth & Lee Mair.

Oh what a difference we have seen since then.

We still have the best ever derby goal though. Nothing will beat that.

Wow is it really 8 years since Levein's first game?? So we've been pretty much a top 6 side for that time and had some pretty decent cups runs as well.

10 years ago I was still travelling, would have been in the USA just now. So its been a busy 10 years for me, now wife, baby, house, mortgage, self employed, wifes the bank manager, car............
