It's like everyone bar Southampton want to give the title to Chelsea in December!
We've been chit so far, with Sanchez being the only good thing about AFC, LFC are nowhere near last years form, Man C.... i don't know what's with them, they have the players and squad and are not performing either, same with Man u (more having a first 11 than squad), and THFC .
Whose underperformed/been the chittest overall so far this season in you opinion?
WTF is going on this season?

For the past 5 years we have been selling our best players off to Spain whilst the biggest signings we can muster are their leftovers, common sense tells you eventually the gap will grow, and growing it is.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd, City and Spurs, none of these are as good as the media want you to believe.
Makes for an exciting PL anyway

So are you saying that due to us selling our best players all the time to the Spanish clubs, it's helping the lower teams catch up? is that the gap your talking about or between PL and La Liga?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps there is a misunderstanding here, I meant to say that us selling our best players to Madrid and Barca, means they are going to get better and better than us.
Imagine if the PL still had Ronaldo, Suarez, Bale, Alonso, Masc, Pique, Modric, Robben. That's before you exclude all the top players missed out on because of these clubs.
That's only a part of it, but if Englands best players are leaving England, then it goes without saying that Europe's elite will eclipse us.

The English premier league is going downhill at an alarming rate. You only have to look at the English teams performances in Europe. Most of the so called stella players that are coming over here now are rejects who could not cut the mustard in much better leagues, with one or two exceptions.

I understand what you are saying Busby and Sandy, but why are our teams doing so poorly domestically too?

Because the TV money is now evenly distributed, suddenly smaller PL clubs can buy decent players whilst the big clubs are flogged for every penny when buying the players replaced at Europes other top clubs. Occasionally Madrid/ Barca will feck up, like with Cesc, but generally they replace the likes of Sanchez, Ozil, Di Maria with better players, the players they buy from us.
If TV revenue was slit evenly in La Liga do you think Madrid/ Barca would be able to spend as they do without breaking FFP rules?

I think there is a myth that the Premiership is the best in the World, as someone from the outside who watches a lot of football I don't see it.

Do agree Smid, sadly most of the leagues bar Italy are won by the usual suspects year in year out, so well done to AM for winning La Liga last season.
Southampton have done well, can't see them keeping it up but I hope that they do, be great to see someone new in the CL.

This is a fair point BB, but also one that is slightly overstated imo. As an overall % of income, Madrid's broadcasting revenues are actually lower now than they were at the turn of the century, when the competition in La Liga was much fiercer competition.
More evenly spread TV deals would indeed mean other teams in La Liga could be somewhat more competitive, but even if you halved the amount Madrid or Barça bring in on broadcasting rights (which probably wouldn't be the case anyway), their overall revenues would still dwarf those of the other 18 clubs. In fact, Madrid's would still be higher than those of any PL club, and Barça's would be roughly on par with United's and still higher than anyone else's in the PL.

The standard of football from everyone except Chelsea and Southampton has generally been dire to watch. It's no wonder that we struggle in european compeitions
the PL is competitive and exciting, in the same way that the championship is competitive and exciting: would you say that the championship is one of the ebst leagues in the world?
