Smacks of desperation by Strachan to try to justify calling up young McLeod.
Strachan was winning me round with the results and what not but his comments about manipulation and calling up boys from the lower leagues has me baffled and a wee bit annoyed.
He's not doing himself any favours.
On the plus side, it's about fecking time that Johnny Russell got the call to the senior squad. He should have been in the original squad but at least he's now seen sense and drafted him in.

I'd have been more behind it if the likes of Armstrong and Pawlett had been called up last season. Pawlett particularly deserved a call up in my opinion.
Armstrong has everything you need to be a top player apart from belief. He's too nice.

Pawlett got a call up for the Nigeria friendly in May 2014.
Armstrong got called up for the game against Croatia in June 2013

I should point out that Pawlett was only called up as a last minute replacement.
He should in my opinion made a handful of squads.
Going back 18 months for Armstrong's call up also validates my point in my opinion.
