So far the UFC has 4 events rumoured for January.
The headliners (and other bouts worth mentioning) are:
03/01/14 - UFC 182
Jon Jones Vs Daniel Cormier
Donald Cerrone Vs Miles Jury
Josh Burkman vs. Hector Lombard
Nate Marquardt vs. Brad Tavares
18/01/14 - UFC Fight Night 59
Conor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver
Eddie Alvarez vs. Benson Henderson
Jorge Masvidal vs. Norman Parke
Uriah Hall vs. Costas Philippou
24/01/14 - UFC on FOX 14
Alexander Gustafsson vs. Anthony Johnson
Dan Henderson vs. Gegard Mousasi
Matt Brown vs. Tarec Saffiedine
31/01/14 - UFC 183
Nick Diaz vs. Anderson Silva
Thiago Alves vs. Jordan Mein
Sara McMann vs. Miesha Tate
The fights stirring up the most excitement, are all 4 of the headliners, Cerrone/Jury, Benson/Alvarez, Hendo/Mousasi, and Brown/Saffiedine.
For me:
JJ beats DC
Conor beats Siver
Rumble beats Gustaffson
Silva beats Diaz
Cerrone beats Jury
Alvarez beats Bendo
Mousasi beats Dan Hendo
Saffiedine beats Brown
Some good scraps before January as well

What a crap card for UFC 180 now
Ellenburger v Gastellum as a co-main
Too many events = less quality cards.

yeah not the big names you'd like to see co-headlining...but an "on the rise" welterweight Vs a "there or there abouts" fighter in Ellenberger wouldn't have been too shoddy for mid-card
Good night of fights I thought

Yeah these days I sky+ the events, then start watching from 60 minutes. Usually end up fast forwarding through until about 90 minutes. Its been diluted so much these days.
I used to stay up all night watching the UFC before sky+ was even around and every fight was worth watching. I suppose its better overall though to have a much bigger roster of fighters.

I agree in a sense, but with 3 new weights for the men & the womans division....as well as the new Womans weight coming in after TUF...the sheer amount of competitors means the UFC in particular have to make more events to showcase all their talent.
And they like to go to the countries in which their fighters are from, Canada, Brazil, Australia, UK, China, Mexico, Japan...soon they'll be in India and Russia etc.
I see what you mean that the desire to want to watch all these fights will drop, 90% of which will not mean anything to anybody but the fighters themselves but there are some really really good fights on the undercards, and the smaller events. They have much higher finish %'s as theyre trying so hard to catch the eye of Dana, rather than the "scared to lose" posse in the top 5/10 of the divisions.
