in an attempt to counter the utter boredom of the international fortnight tell us what are the top 3 you've beento - and explain why
to kick off here are mine
1 Cream
i was a strong stones fan in the early/mid 60s, but a girlfriend persuaded me to go to London to see this new group she'd seen, i had never heard of them.
mein gott !!! simply the greatest musical experience of my life. i had never heard any thing like it, one of the very few times when you are blown away by something completely new.
2 Bo Diddley
a legend who was much much more than your most optimistic expectation.
saw him at a disused cinema in Moseley. could not believe my watch, it seemed he only did half an hour when he'd actually done nearly 2 hours ! Fantastic
3 Howlin Wolf
saw him at a time when he was touring because his club in chicago had been burnt down. the blues was not in fashion and there was only about 20 of us who had gone to see him - in of all places the cedar club in brum ! it sounds pretentious but it just became a great musical experience among friends. the great man stayed with us for a drink at the half-time break and after he finished.
3 best concerts you've been to

OK, i've got 2 top 3s.
Big name acts:
The Rolling Stones
Stevie Wonder (twice)
Prince (twice)
Best experiences:
I'm not a fan but i saw the original lineup of The Manic Street Preachers whilst being sat on the side of the stage.
De La Soul when I was about 16. It doesn't sound very PC this but me and my mate were the only white people there which for a young naive couple of lads was a bit intimidating. However, once De La Soul came on, spliffs were being passed to us from every direction and the whole atmosphere was as chilled as you could imagine.
Lastly, I took my kids to Camp Bestival a few years ago and saw Nile Rodgers, Phoenix & Roy Ayerswho were all amazing. Such a great weekend made even more special by the fact that my kids got to enjoy the experience too.

Strangeley, Supertramp at Phillipshalle, Dusseldorf, early 80's
New Order and Simple Minds at the same venue in late-80's.
New Order were absolutely class...
Prodigy in their very early days (mid 90's) at VW Action, Avon Park raceway, Stratford.
Mental as feck!!!
U2 at Man City about 6 years ago. Bono was just a dot but the 'wall' was feckin huge!!!

i have to sa that the great majority of americand i've met have been great
but i was in texas on a july 4th when they were having a heatwave - 120-130f.
so hot we went for a swim in a lake. while swimming i felt something brushing by me. when i got out i told some americans about this and they said it could have been rattlesnakes as when it was that hot they went in the lake !
i said why didn't you tell me and they said not when your wearing that t shirt - it was a union jack one.

Can't say I am a fan of Americans, though it depends where you live.

would have thought if you're not a fan of americans that america would be a good place not to live

Not really, plenty of up side. Plus I befriend the ones I like, same as I would in the UK.
And the USA won't be my final home anyway, just part of the journey.
