1) ....if Hamilton has car failure, the new world champion will have won about 25% of the races he finished (almost 50% less that the guy in second), will have been booed by many fans for his disgraceful act in Belgium (for which he should have been suspended). add this to his shenanigans in Monaco (for which he should also have been suspended), the fact that he thinks chicanes are optional, and the fact that he has never overtaken "the other car" on the track;
2) the fact that there may only be 18 cars on the grid next year and the "big teams" may have to field a 3rd car, just to make up the numbers. will there be any "small teams" next year to enable drivers to cut their teeth,
3) .......and our dear leader, Bernie, who should be in prison in Germany-but managed to pay his way out of that tight spot; and
4) the fact that great drivers like Alonso, Button etc cant get a drive in a competitive car;
that would really give the sport the World Champion it deserves.

Would be a shambles if it came down to that. Double points has always been stupid.
Any additional points should be more to do with race wins etc... That would mean drivers would fight harder to overtake and win races

If Hamilton has car failure and Rosberg wins then double points makes no difference as Rosberg would have won the title amyway double points or not.

If Rosberg wins the title due to a mechanical failure it would be unfortunate but these things happen. Everyone's so worried Lewis will have a failure, Nico could as well.

Just check the details of the 1967 season. Rules are rules and the results will be the results. That's life. I sincerely hope that Hamilton wins the championship and I think most reasonable people see the justice of that. But you have to live with the results. Hoping Hamilton can cruise to a second place on Sunday and win the championship, but I won't be whining if he wins the race as well. In his present position it would be easy to just keep that bit back, if only for the sake of the car.
