Newcastle v Man Utd
A very bright start from Newcastle saw them take an early 2 goal lead, within 25 mins Higuain had scored two, with two assists from Callejon, Man utd were shocked to say the least, a very attacking start from Newcastle, The first half ended 2-0 to the home side. Man Utd boss Rof must have read the riot act as they began to control the game as Newcastle tired after there blistering first half. Shot after shot rained in on the newcastle goal but Tevez was wasteful, only when Dzeko came on did they take there chances, A Dzeko header and a Cesc freekick brought the game back to 2 a piece, in what was the old cliche, a game of two halfs. A fair result in the end but Newcastle will be kicking themselves throwing away a two goal lead.
Newcastle 2 v 2 Man Utd
Higuain x 2 ( Callejon x 2)
Dzeko (Bellarabi) Fabregas
MOTM - Callejon ran riot in the first half
Everton v Swansea
A very hard fought game at Goodison, Everton having the greater possession but found it very difficult to find a way through the Swansea defence who stood firm at the back. Everton pushed and pushed but Llorente and Co just couldnt penetrate the away side.Swansea were very organised and professional but offered nothing going forward apart from a few long balls up to Rondon and Fellaini, but fairly easily dealt with. Sneijder went the closest for Everton as one of only a few times they got through his shot was tipped over the bar.
Everton 0 v 0 Swansea
MOTM - Kyriakos the best of the defenders today as he kept Llorente quiet
Birmingham City v Portsmouth
A fantastic game on paper and didnt disappoint, both teams on the attack from the off, end oto end stuff, and Birmingham struck early, Jovetic in what looked an offside position was played in by Willian after beating Mangala, the ball across was missed by Lloris and Jovetic had an easy tap in. Willian was on fire today beatin Mangala time and time again but Birmingham couldnt take advantage. Portsmouth equalised early in the second half, as Hamsik out to Gotze and his cross was met by Lewandowki with Cahill sleeping, his powerful header left Cech with no chance. However Brum hit back and eventually the winner came, from a corner Chiellini came up he timed his run perfectly and again a header which left the keeper stranded. Portsmouth had a few chances late in the game, but good keeping from Cech and poor efforts went begging and Birmngham came out on top.
Birmingham 2 v 1 Portsmouth
Jovetic(Willian), Chiellini(Willian)
Lewandowski(Gotze)
MOTM - Willian
Southampton v Hull City
A tricky game for Hull City as they look to stay in the Europa places, Southampton started brightly and Huntelaar was provided with a couple of chances but Benatia and Miranda were solid enough to keep his shots to a distance. Hull were dangerous on the attack and Robertson was unlucky to give away a free kick against Walcott, the ball was whipped in and Rodrigo got on the end of it, saved well by Ospina but could only knocked it as far as Cabaye, who controlled it well and smashed home from the edge of the box. It remained 0-1 till half time. AgainSouthampton started the brighter and they attacked the flanks well, but either poor crossing or poor finishing let them down, Hull went 2-0 up when Cabaye broke free of a Biglia challenge, he was brought down by Valero, James fired in the free kick straight into the postage stamp to leave Ospina with no chance. Southampton looked alittle jaded as they had put in a fair bit to the game, they got a consolation goal, a long ball from Ospina, beautifully controlled by Huntelaar, he played it down to Mertens who curled in a fantastic shot.
Southampton 1 v 2 Hull City
Cabaye(Rodrigo), James (FK)
Mertens(Huntelaar)
MOTM - Cabaye
Man City v Liverpool
A very open, end to end game, neither team dominating and neither team really taking control, lots of feisty challenges going in and some silly bookings, Some nice attacking form both sides and goals a plenty in the first half, Bacca and Ribery for Man City and Costa for Liverpool. The second half was a bit quieter and things were slowed down by the home side, Liverpool not really looking dangerous until subs were brought on and all three linked well when Nainngolan won the ball in the middle and spread it neatly to Lamela, his low cross was picked up by Rooney who rounded De Gea and slotted home to make it 2-2 and how it finished
Man City 2 v 2 Liverpool
Bacca(Hazard) Ribery(Nagatomo)
Costa(Candreva)Rooney(Lamela)
MOTM - Hazard
Arsenal v Aston Villa
Arsenal really hit the ground running here and were leading early on when Aguero was set up nicely by Yaya Toure to take the lead, Arsenal domianted early proceedings and almost doubled their lead again Aguero but Navas saved well, it was a half that Villa really couldnt get into and possibly lucky to be only 1-0 down at HT. Arsenal continued there early dominance but it was Villa who scored on the breakaway, a qreat tackle by Koscielny was picked up by Kroos, out to Son who played a lovely one two with Sturridge and Son drilled it low passed Hart. Villa smelt blood and went on the attack, Arsenal didnt panic tho and soaked up the pressure and did not concede again only for them to give Villa a piece of there own medicine, Villa going for goal Kagawa played a loose pass and Blind picked up, Ramsay drove on and played in Aguero, he coolly slipped the ball under the on rushing Navas and that was that. Destro almost equalised late on but his shot hit the bar and gathered by Hart.
Arsenal 2 v 1 Aston Villa
Aguero x 2 (Yaya, Ramsay)
Son(sturridge)
MOTM -Aguero
Wolves 0 v 2 WBA
Bonyx2 (Naismith, Montoya)
MOTM - Naismith
