No you didn't, now you're saying that. First you said it was because of Sturridge and Suarez, now you're saying it's because teams worked it out. It took them a whole season to work it out?

Don't forget they were already trying to do it last season and with some success.

It wasn't a case of being 'found out' the old classic cliche line of an idiot, TalkSport listener. Simply we weren't troubling teams in attack and thus they were attacking us, forcing us in to mistakes, sitting on Gerrard, as they had less to worry about.

I'm sure most Liverpool fans prefer Gerrard further forward but at 34 he can STILL play in any position.
======================
Read it again . I made both points at the same time:

a) SAS papered over a lot of cracks with the backline and midfield
b) Teams early on this season sussed us out early on this season. A man was always close to Gerrard. Pressing him high up. Taken out of the game. He couldn't get his passing game and we all know his defensive work was not the best.

Playing Gerrard further forward was the best solution as well as giving him breaks from games which he needs. He won't perform in every game but the final 3rd is where we want our most creative/penetrative player.

I'm not arguing against playing him further forward I'm saying it's downright idiotic to label Gerrard aitting as a ridiculous position the season after he was nominated for player of the year.

the best solution is to play Gerrard deep but give him more targets up top

he's excellent in that position.

There is an argument that Rodgers took too long to change the team this season.

That's a different argument to saying Gerrard can't play deep though.

Quite clearly he can, as long as the set up elsewhere supports that.

This season it hasn't and Rodgers arguably should have sorted that earlier.

It did get silly cos Rodgers took too long to change the position of Gerrard. Gerrard gave a sneak preview when he came on as a sub against West Brom and he linked immediately with Mario which no other player has been able to do.

He then was sent deep. Marked out of the game and wasn't doing his defensive duty. Rodgers should have acted a lot sooner.

That's not completely true Kash.

The next game after Hull was QPR away and Gerrard played off Balotelli.

It didn't work though and he moved back after half time because Can and Hendo? I think were struggling at the base.

It's pretty obvious Balotelli has been a major part of our problems. Lambert hasn't done great, but he has improved our team compared to Balotelli who was offering virtually nothing.
