I am still trying to understand why Wenger comes under so much attack with his handling of the Diaby issue. I would have expected this from rival fans or the press, but interestingly, much of the noise is coming from our own fans. If anything, I am impressed at how much effort Diaby has put into getting back to full fitness and more importantly, Wenger's patience and perseverance. Diaby was on the receiving end of a career threatening injury while on duty for Arsenal football club. The least you would expect from a club as prudent as Arsenal is to repay his commitment with faith and support. Granted, he has not been able to feature as much as he would have liked after the horrific injury, but that was never a fault of his own or a lack of trying.
The current Arsenal set up has been designed to give fringe players a chance when games begin coming in thick and fast. It will surprise you to know that Rosicky and Podolski have been as instrumental as Diaby at best this season. And that's because Wenger knows that such players will bring significant value towards the tail end and business end of the season.
There is no need rushing players like Diaby, Wilshere and Walcott back at a time when we have more than enough cover. But a time will come when they will begin to give us something different. Diaby has only recently had grade one injuries (mild) and there really isn't any sense rushing him back, though it is clear there's been significant improvement in his body's response.
But when you continue to hear statements like "He's Done", "Wenger is a joke", you begin to ask where rationale has gone?
Quotes:
---------
'Diaby is on the fringe of coming back into full training but he is not there yet - he has a calf problem,' said Wenger.
'His injuries are never severe but little grade one tears. He is not available yet. 'If Diaby is fully fit, he will have a new deal at Arsenal.'

Why the Diaby witch-hunting?

Diaby os on a pay per play deal since september as the millions he has already been paid keeps him going. He is not costing the club anything except medical bills at the moment.
Ive just seen that apparently we are going to offer him a new contract. After all these years he should just accept that horror tackle ended his career and retire.

Diaby actually paid Arsenal the sum of 23 billion pounds to train with us this year.

Diaby may not be average, but only someone wearing the thickest of rose tinted glasses could claim he wasn't extremely inconsistent, even when fit.
As for the French national team and Arsene having a 'cracking head for business', sounds like you're still living in the late 90s.
There is nothing but rumours suggesting Diaby is on a pay as you play contract and as for this 'we've space left in the squad anyway' nonsense, have you considered perhaps that might not be the case had we not been hemorrhaging money through our massively inflated wage bill over the last 4 or 5 seasons?
Still, those extra bodies wouldn't have been much use, would they? What with us having such a great injury record.
Great head for business

Love how at least someone always seems to site either Ramsey or RvP when talking about the possibilty of the 'second' coming of Diaby.
Because, as we all know, all footballers are the same, so if it can happen once, then why not again?

Thing is I've no doubt every one of you saying not to offer the contract, would be the first ones to be citing the idiocy of Wenger for letting him go for nothing, should he move on to be successful at another club. BasicallyWenger is damned if he does or damned if he doesn't here and whatever he does will get him slated either way.
And for the record, most top flight footballers do indeed recover from their injuries and go on with their careers and development. Yes some don't. But to not offer him a contract on the basis that he might not turn out the same as Ramsey or RVP is an equal logic to saying give him one because he might just turn out like RVP and Ramsey. You can't assume he won't any more than someone can assume he will. In fact, each year, he's statistically more likely to have a fit year. It's a downright silly move to let him go if we can keep him on pay as you play. Like it or not as long as he is a playing footballer, jhe's an Arsenal investment. An investment we should protect, if just to prevent the possibility of someone else cashing in.
You would all certainly make more of a fuss about him leaving and breaking through elsewhere, than you will if he sts at the club trying to get fit and only being paid when he plays.

Lets get rid of Diaby so that Wenger can replace him with..... *drum roll*....
Nobody.
May as well keep him. The only physical midfielder we have, even if he isn't physically capable. Wenger won't bring in a suitable replacement.

What?!
Hey you're right though. Keep him on, you know... just in case.
Plus Arsenal are LOOOOOOOOADED now anyway. Which is why Stan managed to take out his 'consultancy fee' without impacting further on the pockets of the Emirates faithful.
Oh hang though...
