Sell who to buy who?

I have a feeling that in the summer targets identified by Rogers to put in front of the transfer committee, that the strikers he proposed on his wish list were players with plenty of pace - which suited his system of last season.

For whatever reason, we ended up with Balotelli. I am still sure with a pacy partner up front he can play well.

However, everyone including BR have found that in the absence of Sturridge we need a player up front who is pacy and can lead the line on his own if necessary.

I think this has bought BR time to spend in the January window. He probably will be told to sell before he could buy, I think FSG will top up with a few million.

So who could leave, how much could be raised? How much would the new players cost?

How can you get excited with Mignolet in goal??

He invites pressure onto the defence with his useless distribution!

Markovic actually looked decent yesterday. Could it be because it was Europe and not the PL? Still need to see if he has a end product yet.

Also what is his best position? Right or left?

He plays all across the pitch behind the striker, and also as a striker.

his main attribute in the last two games that we have been missing is that he actually gets in the feckin box, he wants to score goals.

Some of his holdup play on the edge of the box yesterday before his dismissal was good too, in particular when he received the ball to feet, held of his marker, turned out of trouble to play sterling in behind, sterling then fizzed the ball across, but no one else had got forward

thats why he and sterling would work well either side of a striker at the moment. it would belike inverting last years attack, SaS gave sterling space to exploit, and driving at the space between CB and fullback from wide gave sterling the space through the middle.

we could have marko and sterling breaking in to those gaps beyond balo / lambo for the time being, with the striker pulling the CBs forward to challenge him for the ball.

It then comes down to the hold up/link up play of the strikers. and leaving them 1 on 1 with their fullbacks, and generally you would put money on them to beat a man on the ground with their pace and control.

at the minute we dont seem to have any attacking plan.

IRU you are making this kid sound better than he has shown so far. I think he is one for the future but he clearly needs more game time. I would be tempted if Ashley Young is at left back on Sunday.

One thing for sure is that Sterling is poor on the right wing and Rodgers keeps putting him on the right in big games

When Sterling moved to the left/central he was so much better. The guys needs to put his best players in the right position.

Hes made 5 appearances for us so far, hes not had a chance to look either good or bad.

Im rather highlighting how much more more advanced he is, at this point in time in comparison to origi, who everyone is desperately clinging to as a saviour.

he has scored 9 in 54 appearances for lille, including two pens.

Marko scored 13 in 46 at belgrade and 5 in 26 at benfica. both i believe without penalties.

he can score, we just havent given him a chance yet. he gets in and around the box, which is more than our other attackers at the moment.

both origi and marko both have similar potential to sterling, but there is no denying marko is further ahead in his development. Origi will not change our season, because he is nowhere near a 1 in 2 striker yet, even in the french league. he would be better off developing there this season, then in this league next.
