Opinions Make The World Go Round

Evening to all my fellow Blue Army fans/followers/fanatics
Having been a supporter of my beloved club since the late 70's and an avid visitor to the Leicester City page on JA606, I have never felt more compelled to join and add my own opinion to the ongoing state of the heartbeat of our footballing world.
What follows is my opinion and in no way should be taken as fact or me imposing my thoughts on you all, we all have our own views and you may disagree with me as I may disagree with you. But who cares, let's debate our club as we ALL love the club.
So let's sum our club up in 1 sentence......
We are a roller coaster club, a yo-yo club who apart from a MON period have never cemented a place at the top table.
Over the last 35 years I have grown used to surprise wins, cup finals, crazy defeats ( singing we want 8 when 7-1 down to Sheff Wed at Hillsborough), frustrating performances etc
But that is what makes Leicester City our club, we are unpredictable.
Do I want us to be holding our own in the Premier League? Hell YES.....
Is this achievable? YES, but only if we all KEEP THE FAITH in this current poor run of results.
No person goes out and deliberately underperformance in a LCFC shirt, no person sits at a desk and thinks that they are right and everyone else is wrong ( not one who has a strong team around them who aren't afraid to voice their own thoughts as well).
Let's look at 3 areas
OWNERS - can't fault them, they don't force themselves into the media, I don't think they see themselves as bigger than the club. But LCFC is a business, ANY decision they take will be in the best interest of the club in THEIR opinion. If they decide that NP is the man, end of.........
PLAYERS - Good enough to give us the best season last year that I have seen in a very long time. Good enough to perform in the Premier League, yes!
Good enough to perform week in, week out in the Premier League for 38 games. Only time will tell.
My view in the summer was one of, keep the squad, add a few players, don't be blinded by our promotion and overspend.
I never want to return to the days of doubting if my/our club would survive.
MANAGER - here we go....... Nigel Pearson and his back room team have made some mistakes BUT they are far outweighed by the GOOD things that they have done and bought to our club. I firmly believe that NP is the man to lead us through the rest of this season ( I never want Tony Pulis near my club), if we finish 17th great. If we finish 18th,19th or 20th then I wouldn't want anyone else to bring us back up next season.
The owners have so far not flinched in the face of loud voices questioning NP's position ( even taking abuse from so called fans), so I think we can take it that they have faith and that NP is being supported from upstairs ( good I say, too many owners are trigger happy),
So let's all get behind EVERYONE, players-owners and the manager. Let's make the KP a fortress, let's show the players that we still believe.
LCFC is in our blood, let's enjoy the ride wherever it ends up........

Wow, you're very measured. He's actually doing better than I thought he would to be honest but I see a man who has very limited defensive ability, and who has no final ball to take advantage of his attacking strengths. Therefore I see a poor full back and a poor midfielder who won't cut it in the prem.

If I was playing a wing back I'd play Albrighton as at least he can cross a football!!!

Anyway, I think you've put across a pretty fair assessment of him.

If you want to keep going, how would you feel sbout a switch to 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 to get more men in midfield to try and shore us up until Xmas?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally I wouldn't play Albrighton as a right back or wing back, square pegs round holes?? We aren't Man Utd you know 😉
I actually rate Albrighton highly and would like to see him given a run of starts in his favoured position, he is one player who could give us a spark to turn things round.
As for any formation change, no one will ever convince me that 3-5-2 works, especially with our frailties at the back. I wouldn't be averse to moving to a 4-5-1 to shore up the middle of the park, create more possession and to help the defence feel more supported by the engine room of the team. Depending on players selected in this formation it could be fluid to force a 4-3-3 if required as well.
Whether we get to see this or not I couldn't say, but if we do we could all be armchair managers in the Premier League.
If only it was that easy 😉

Welcome OTW!

Can't see much to disagree with in your post, although I would have no problem with seeing Pulis in our dugout.

I'd also have had no problem with Warnock there either (cue the calls for me to be forced to ring a bell on matchdays and shout 'unclean! unclean!' as I walk to my seat).

About RDL, Simpson looked OK at RB against Villa, so it might be worth trying RDL on the right side of midfield (offensively possibly not as good as Albrighton, but defensively better). Allied with a switch to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 perhaps, with Mahrez in the middle behind Ulloa?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks Nuneaton
If ever I saw Pulis or Warnock in our dugout I would hope they have a bucket and a mop in their hands and not a team sheet 😉
I thought Simpson did ok on Sunday and I would like to see RDL pushed forward as an experiment, just to prove me wrong.
Re. Mahrez behind Ulloa, certainly needs to be someone creative and pacy in the support role behind Ulloa but also needs to be reliable. I remain to be convinced that Mahrez could fill this role at the moment.

So am I, but he likes to take the ball past people (wish he'd learn when to pass) so try him in a position where he can do some real damage doing that. Also his defensive liabilities wouldn't cause us so much of a problem as normal (exposing RDL all the time and making RDL look worse than he actually is).

Very solid argument, would be good to see it tried out 😃

Where's arro these days?

I'm sure he would agree with EXACTLY everything you say

Feels like he's back!

Both full backs get the blame for how the midfield perform. If where more of a threat up front the oposition fullbacks would stay back giving RDL space for his runs.

Saying that i thought Simpson is nailed on as right back if he continues to perform like Sunday.

I see Ferry boy tried to sign you up for the RDL fan club.

If we go three at the back then RDL would be a good wing back and if we need to go man to man marking or even as a right sided defensive midfielder don't write him off just yet.

As for Mr Pullis if we lose the next two games and the owners want to stay up at all costs then why not get him in it would not be a long term solution but if anyone knows what it takes he does. If not give NP this season and next.

There's me thinking I was the only one with these opinions....
Let's wait for Arro to visit this thread and see what he has too say, although I am glad that my version of War & Peace has generated some civil debate on here.

Fully respect your comments Nev, I am fully behind the old adage that we must defend from the front. That includes ALL our midfielders too.
I don't need anyone to sign me up to the RDL fan club, I like him as a player but I am slightly sad that he seems to be the Number 1 target for a lot of fans.
If someone could take him too one side and teach him not too dive in 80% of the time then I think he would be a much better choice.
As for Simpson, I am still to be convinced. Give him 6 games back to back and I will judge him then.
As for Pulis, I have to say that as a fan I am not sure that I want to stay up " at all costs".
I want to see my club survive for another 130 years and be financially secure, NOT be blinded by short term large financial outlay ( guided by FFP).

Oooo I don't think the FFP or anything we want will call the shots. The owners have bet the farm on this and there reputation is at stake.
Last home a coach load of Thai's where getting on the coach back to London we as a club represent a lot more than Leicester.

The good news going up the owners can re cope some of there investment and the safety net parachute payments

So i see no comparisons between this and the Taylor situation for which the blame lies with the Chairman, and even MoN must take some blame for tying in older over the hill players to long contracts and high wages once we got promoted. Even before Taylor and Juniors Lewis 4 year contract.
