Lewis Hamilton has topped AUTOSPORT's Formula 1 team principals' top 10 drivers poll for 2014.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117125
But, unlike what happened on track this season, it was not his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg who emerged as his closest challenger.
As part of the annual Formula 1 season review, AUTOSPORT has again exclusively polled every team principal for their top driver list of the year.
These lists are kept secret, so the bosses can be honest about their opinions, and only the overall results are collated together using the F1 scoring system of 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1.
The form that Hamilton displayed en route to capturing his second world championship this year was enough to deliver him a comfortable margin at the head of the rankings.
However, although Rosberg pushed Hamilton until the end of the season for the championship, the German only ended up fifth overall in the rankings.
Instead, it was Fernando Alonso who emerged as the team principals' second best driver, with his performance in the underwhelming Ferrari serving to impress.
Daniel Ricciardo's brilliant season for Red Bull, as he became the only non-Mercedes driver to win a race, secured him third place ahead of Williams' Valtteri Bottas.
Marussia's Jules Bianchi, who remains in a serious condition in hospital following his accident at the Japanese Grand Prix, was ranked eighth overall - having delivered his and his team's first world championship points at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton added another accolade to his 2014 season by winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award on Sunday.
Hamilton, who been runner-up in the BBC vote after both his astonishing F1 debut in 2007 and his first title in '08, became the first motorsport winner of the award since Damon Hill's 1996 triumph.
He came out ahead of golf's world number one Rory McIlroy in the public vote.
Hamilton becomes the fifth racing driver to win the award in its 61-year history, with Damon Hill ('94 & '96) and Nigel Mansell ('86 & '92) triumphing on two occasions and Stirling Moss ('61) and Sir Jackie Stewart ('73) claiming the prize once.

Guvnor I think Rory Mcilroy may have run him close after his 2 Majors and his part in the Ryder Cup. But then Hamilton's WDC was very much fresh in peoples minds.

Nope I was wrong, Hamilton 80,000 votes more than Mcilroy.

World champion is the 6th best driver over a season, why? Because he did not have the most poles?
Ignore the fact he won almost double the races his team mate did.
Biffs to the head are dangerous

Just to stir the pot
Double world champion Lewis Hamilton is the best driver on the grid, regardless of machinery, according to former F1 driver Alex Zanardi.
The Italian, who is now a gold-medal winning paralympian following the loss of both his legs, claims Fernando Alonso is the only driver that "comes close" to Hamilton.
"Honestly, I believe that the outcome of the last Formula 1 World Championship was right," Zanardi told Leo Turrini. "I am not talking about the machinery, I am talking about the driver.
"In my opinion, Hamilton is the best of those on the grid at the moment. Perhaps the only one who comes close to him is Alonso. But I think Lewis is a step above," he added.

Not sure, theres no possible way anyone could know who Alex Zanardi is without Googling.
And unless you've been in a car with him you can't have an opinion on the matter
